The most important is leadership as he explicated as Led by example, Have the unlimited ambition, and Care about your people needs. “Their needs are more important than the leaders need, “he added. The last but not least is to build the reputation as well as to do the right networking.

Moreover, said Pak Teddy, fanatical disciplines and winning team are significant to execute the business. “Use fanatical disciplines in exploiting and standardizing your uniqueness. Also, choose your winning team mainly based on character and passion while IQ comes later,” advised the ITB alumnus.

“What is your key success as a CEO?” asked the audience. “Never delegate the company strategy, business model, and choosing your people. Do check your company’s financial matters, improvement process, and people,” as the best CEO closed the talk.

Eunice who started her business 3 years ago further shared about her own business in which to help school and college in organizing a study tour overseas. “I had lectured for over 20 years about Entrepreneurship. But then I asked myself why I did not have my own business. That was when I realized that I had to start my business,” said the 43-year-old.

“The most important thing if you wish to start your business, find out why your product (or service) is different from others. Use your creativity and bring your story to the product,” convinced the Executive Director of Strategic Mind Specialists Business Consultancy and Corporate Assistance Inc who pointed out a Filipino entrepreneur who had successfully turned rugs into high-class bags.

In this event, Eunice partnered USAID to provide insight about Entrepreneurship issues. While Eunice delivered the inspiring talk, USAID provided the audiences with their research about Indonesian Entrepreneurship and Micro, Small, and Medium Sized Enterprise Development. Moderatored by MBA Jakarta lecturer, Dr Agung Wicaksono, the discussion surely inspired those young entrepreneurs to reach out their big dream.

• Di UKP4 (akhir 2009 – Sekarang), Kuntoro dinilai berhasil mengidentifikasikan program-program pembangunan apa yang harus diprioritaskan agar mesin birokrasi menjadi lebih fokus, hingga memimpin upaya memecahkan masalah-masalahnya. Selain itu, Kuntoro juga memimpin Satgas PMH dan Satgas REDD+.
• Di BRR Aceh-Nias (2005-2009), Kuntoro menuai kepercayaan tinggi dari dunia internasional, yang akhirnya diakui sukses, untuk mengomandani pemulihan Aceh-Nias pascatsunami. Indikasinya, Indonesia berhasil merealisasikan AS$6,7 milyar (93% dana pemulihan sebesar AS$7,2 milyar yang di-pledge-kan) dan, akhirnya, tata-kelola pascabencananya menjadi best-practice dan standar bagi negara-negara lain.
• Di BUMN, terutama ketika diamanahi sebagai Direktur Utama PT Tambang Timah (1989-1994), Kuntoro dinilai sukses memimpin restrukturisasi PT Timah, dari semula terancam bangkrut menjadi BUMN pertama Indonesia yang mencatatkan namanya di bursa efek internasional.
• Sebagai tambahan, pada 1995, Kuntoro menjadi Direktur Dewan Nasional dari Universitas Northeastern.

Bersama mantan Menlu Colin Powell, salah satu pendiri SBM ITB ini menerima gelar kehormatan tersebut di Boston (4/5/2012). Dari tanah air, alumni dari Universitas Northeastern ini juga baru saja mendapatkan gelar Professorship dan Guru Besar Luar Biasa dari ITB.

ITB’s School of Business and Management (SBM) is just over five years old. It that relatively short period of time the school has grown from one program and nine full time faculty members, to four academic programs and thirty eight full time faculty members. In addition there are now thirty part time lecturers, fifteen full time tutors and thirty five part time tutors. Student numbers have risen from 233 to close to approximately 1150 in the same time span.

SBM has a very active Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership (CIEL). Fifty teaching cases about Indonesian businesses have been written by faculty and staff. The Jurnal Manajemen Teknologi (Indonesian Journal for the Science of Management), the MBA-ITB Business Review and The Asian Journal of Technology Management are published by SBM on a regular basis.

SBM receives a great deal of respect in the community. It is undoubtedly the best business school in Indonesia and is on a path to become even better. This is the story of SBM’s development, not without difficult times and disagreements, but with a remarkable amount of internal teamwork.

Tell us about your research?

My research focuses on the financial planning subject for personal level or corporate level. Financial Planning is defined as all effort that has to be done to manage all asset, constraint, and opportunities under certain environment in a systematic way so that we can achieve our life objectives. Topics in this field of research include but not limited to; investment strategy, optimal personal investment portfolio, comparison of different market instruments, saving behavior, retirement fund, and education fund.

What are changes that your research bring to the management thinking?

My research will bring new understanding and new insight to ordinary people on how to achieve prosperity. New techniques and alternatives to achieve these life objectives will be open and broadened. In terms of management thinking the research will bring practical application aspect to enrich the current theoretical understanding.

How do you inspire your students to lead?

I try to inspire my students to lead by setting an example from my daily life and bring interesting stories to my class. There are so many interesting stories in life that we can learn from it and inspired because of it.

What’s your favorite thing to do that doesn’t involve teaching/research?

I love to help other people to grow and prosper. I enjoy playing music and singing. I can sing alone the whole day and I can feel good about it. Reading also gives me inspiration and helps me define my life objectives.

What does to lead means to you?

To lead give significant meaning to my personal life. I believe that I should lead myself. The greatest power can be created when somebody can direct his/her emotion and energy into a certain purpose so that our life objectives can be realized effectively. Leading means setting an example and inspire others to do the right things.
