MSM and MBA Student Represent Indonesia in CFA Institute Research Challenge Regional Competition in Bangkok

IMG_02323 students from Master of Science in Management in Finance together with 2 students from Master of Business Administration became the national winner at CFA Institute Research Challenge 2017, an investment analysis competition held by CFA Global Society and CFA Society Indonesia. They will represent Indonesia CFA Institute Research Challenge 2017 Regional Round in Bangkok, Thailand. They will meet all representative from Asia Pacific and competing for the Global round in Czech with representative from America Regional and EMEA regional.

CFA Institute Research Challenge 2017 is the most prestigious investment analysis global competitions that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. This year, CFA Institute Research Challenge national competition invited only 8 big universities in Indonesia. Top 4 universities are then chosen to join the final round to compete for Indonesia representative in Asia-Pacific Regional competition. Representatives from ITB consists of Wirata Adi Dharma, Yohanna Karina, and Faishal Ahmad Farrosi from Master of Science Management in Finance batch 2015; Kukuh Rahmanto and Ridho Murtadha Barasila from Young Professional program Master of Business Administration batch 53.

This year, the national competition decided to use telecommunication industry as its theme. They chose Indosat Ooredoo (PT Indosat Tbk.) as the object of the competition. Every team must make 10 pages’ investment analysis about the company and gives recommendation to buy/hold/sell the stock of the company. The winner is the one who can convince the judges about the recommendation that every team makes with all the underlying reasons.

For the team, CFA Institute Research Challenge is the chances to really implement the knowledge he has been getting so far in university and try to adjust it with the professional analyst always do in their works. Being exposed to the real problem and mentoring by the CFA chartered holder analyst is really a rare chance. This is one of the kind competitions that offer the participant a lot of knowledge, insights, and on-hand application to become investment analysis.
