Soft Skills and Individual Innovativeness for Industry 4.0

DSC_0841“At the beginning, innovation is needed that does not necessarily require a Key Performance Indicator (KPI). The indicators in the company should be more leading than lagging.”, said Arief Musta’in – Head of Digital Service Division PT Telkom Indonesia. “In Telkom, this is done with the Amoeba project”. Arief Musta’in is one of the speakers on SMART TALK: “Soft Skills and Individual Innovativeness for Industry 4.0″ that held on Tuesday, 25 September 2018 held in MBA ITB Ampitheatre, Jl. Gelapnyawang No.1 Bandung, attended by 140 participants.

Opened by representative of West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil ,S.T, MUD, Doddy F.N – Expert Staff of Economic Development of West Java Governor said, “”In accordance with the direction of the Governor, West Java is ready to collaborate in building human resources for Industry 4.0.” Added by Dr. rer. pol Achmad Fajar Hendarman – Lecturer of SBM ITB, “”That soft skills are positively and significantly related to individual innovativeness, especially relationship building, tolerance for uncertainty, innovation leadership and this passion and optimism applies in Indonesian companies both small, medium and large including start-ups”.

Ir. Made Dana Tangkas, M. Si, IPM – President of Institut Otomotif Indonesia explain his point of view to leverage collaboration between academic, business, corporate and government:

  1. Innovation in work (related to SOPs, work standards, standardization) that create results of improvement in products & processes, services
  2. Corporate KPIs
  3. How to implement industry 4.0 in Indonesia so that it can also avoid unemployment and achieve the best industry competitiveness?
  4. How is the implementation of the results of innovation in the community, commercialization standard and licensing?
  5. additional: it is necessary to strengthen the achievement of world class industry (KPI result & process) with the concept of Lean Industry / Enterprise / Management, and also need preparation for the 4.0 industry by making the following points: curriculum, links and matches between industries with universities, training, teaching factory / TUK, apprenticeship / KP, certification etc.

Closing session is resumed by Akhmadi Surawijaya, M.Sc. – Lecturer of STEI ITB, “Soft skills are needed that do support industry 4.0 in addition to hard skills”, he said.
