School of Business and Management Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB) was awarded a First Rank Indonesia Best B-School Award 2009 SWA magazine. The awards delivered directly by SWA Magazine Chief Editor, Kemal Effendi Gani, in the awarding ceremony which was held in Ballroom A Shangri La Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (23/12/2009) ago. This survey is supported by SWANETWORK-Corporate Activities Management, and is intended to assess and measure the performance of University and School of Business who conducted business school education in Indonesia. Survey results winners Indonesia Best B-School in 2009 has been published in the November No.25/XXV/26 SWA Magazine – December 9, 2009.

“The role of business school graduates for the development of business in Indonesia is enormous. Since 2002 until 2008, graduated Master of Business School nearly 60,000 of graduates, and a fourth is a business school graduates with Accreditation A. According to SWA experience as a business magazine, the graduates held various positions in various large and medium companies. According to Dean SBM ITB, Dr. Dermawan Wibisono, in the year 2003 according to a similar survey held SWA Magazine, SBM ITB perched on the sixth rank. “Based on these results, we make adjustments in various fields, especially curriculum and teaching methods. For example, when we have made study visits to the world best business schools like Harvard, and Wharton, all using the case method. And we did change the method of teaching with case studies 60% and 40% teaching. Consequently, we have to meet the needs of our case to buy at a price that is not cheap,” recalled Dermawan who has served as Chairman of the MBA study program SBM ITB

He added, that the purpose of the MBA courses is to create business leaders are ethical, innovative, and have the entrepreneurial spirit. Therefore, students enriched on to the development of Emotional Quotient. “Students on the 2000 generation have the advantage of a significant increase in IQ, but EQ is not very satisfactory. Therefore, we optimize this from since they started college in MBA ITB, “Generous said.

Responding to the presentation itself, Generous said wisely, “Rates will always go up and down, assessments will always change from where we see the point of a broader weight. Sekolah Bisnis dan Manajemen Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB) dianugerahi sebagai Peringkat Pertama Indonesia Best B-School Award 2009 versi majalah SWA. Penyerahan penghargaan dilakukan langsung oleh Pimpinan Redaksi Majalah SWA, Kemal Effendi Gani, dalam acara awarding yang digelar di Ballroom A Shangri La Hotel, Jakarta, Rabu (23/12/2009) lalu. Pemeringkatan ini didukung oleh SWANETWORK-Corporate Activities Management, dan dimaksudkan untuk menilai dan mengukur kinerja Universitas dan Sekolah Bisnis yang menyelenggarakan pendidikan sekolah bisnis di Indonesia. Hasil survei pemenang Indonesia Best B-School 2009 telah dimuat di Majalah SWA No.25/XXV/26 November – 9 Desember 2009.

“Peran lulusan sekolah bisnis bagi perkembangan dunia usaha di Indonesia sangatlah besar. Sejak tahun 2002 hingga 2008, lulusan Magister Sekolah Bisnis hampir mencapai 60.000-an lulusan, dan seperempatnya adalah lulusan sekolah bisnis dengan Akreditasi A. Menurut pengalaman SWA sebagai majalah bisnis, para lulusan tadi sangat mewarnai dunia bisnis karena menduduki berbagai posisi strategis di berbagai perusahaan besar dan menengah. Sebut saja, CEO, Direktur, Pejabat Tinggi pemerintah, hingga Entrepreneur sukses, dan mereka semua bertanggung jawab atas maju mundurnya perusahaan yang mereka kelola atau bangun. Oleh karenanya, Majalah SWA merasa perlu mengadakan survey seperti ini,” ujar Kemal.

Ditegaskannya, penyelenggaraan survey ini bukanlah sebagai kompetisi, namun agar dapat menjadi cermin suara stakeholders itu seperti apa.

Menurut Dekan SBM ITB Dr. Dermawan Wibisono, pada tahun 2003 menurut survey serupa yang digelar Majalah SWA, SBM ITB bertengger di ranking keenam. “Berdasar hasil tersebut, kami melakukan pembenahan di berbagai bidang, teutama kurikulum dan metode pengajaran. Misal, saat kami melakukan studi banding ke sekolah bisnis terbaik dunia seperti Harvard, dan Wharton, semuanya menggunakan case method. Dan kami pun mengubah metode pengajaran dengan 60% studi kasus dan 40% pengajaran. Konsekuensinya, kami harus memenuhi kebutuhan case yang harus kita beli dengan harga yang tidak murah,” kenang Dermawan yang pernah menjabat sebagai Ketua Program Studi MBA SBM ITB

Ia menambahkan, tujuan dari program studi MBA adalah untuk menciptakan pemimpin-pemimpin bisnis beretika, inovatif, dan memiliki entrepreneurial spirit. Dan untuk menuju ke arah itu, sedari dini mahasiswa diperkaya dengan program pengembangan Emotional Quotient. “Mahasiswa angkatan 2000 ke atas memiliki keunggulan peningkatan IQ yang signifikan, namun EQ yang tidak terlalu memuaskan. Oleh karenanya, kami menggawangi hal ini dari sejak mereka mulai kuliah di MBA ITB,” kata Dermawan.

Menanggapi penganugerahan ini sendiri, Dermawan berkata bijak, “Peringkat akan selalu naik turun, assesement akan selalu berubah dari mana kita melihat titik berat yang lebih luas. Namun, titik positifnya, kita gunakan hasil ini sebagai diagnosis how to improve and how to compete our schools globally together with other business schools.” (*)
