A front runner in Indonesia’s gaming industry, Arief tells a story of the background and history of the establishment of Agate. Founded by 18 young people that share the same dream of working to their passion, many people doubted the existence of Agate due to the number of people involved in the company. However, Arief and friends are able to prove that these 18 people are the biggest assets of Agate. Since founded in 2009, this local game developer from Bandung have produced more than 100 games for PCs and mobile devices and expanded with two branches in Jakarta and Jogjakarta. They started the company with a salary of Rp. 50,000 per person and have now grown to have 80 employees. His knowledge of corporate management and active contributions to the development of Agate Studio has made Arief’s friends appointed him to lead the company.

In the event attended by ITB students, Arief shares few tips in running his company, one of which is to always think positive. He believes that human are distinguished by their problem-solving approach, whether they will take the blaming approach or being responsible.

Although he did not finish his study at ITB, this Informatics Engineering student took the decision and went through several considerations because the fact that he has completed all his credits. But he assured the students who attended the event that the purpose of attending university is for the learning process; do not assume that students need to drop out first before establishing a business.

The talk show of Leading a Successful and Sustainable Games Studio is continued with an inspiring Q&A session,particularly when there is a fellow student who is also interested in establishing a game developer business. Arief said that the local gaming industry develops rapidly with promising global prospects. Recently, Agate Studio managed to cooperate with Square Enix, a Japanese game developer, the maker of Final Fantasy

Fridaypreneurship is an entrepreneurial talk show program that invites young entrepreneurs of various business fields. It is a monthly event held by SBM ITB Entrepreneurship program and open to SBM ITB students and other faculty of ITB.
