FLLSINGAPORE, March 15th 2014. Wisnu Aryo Setio (19012128) from School of Business and Management 2015 and his team Nasha Pinasthika (19011025 – SBM 2014, Pundarika Lestari (Advertising UI) represented Indonesia in Unilever Future Leaders’ League 2014 at Four Acres, Singapore. It was the second time the competition has ever been held, and this year they invited students from 21 countries. They all came from prestigious backgrounds; team USA came from University of Southern California, Japan from Keio University, Singapore from NUS, and some teams even consisted of Masters or Doctorate students.

From the original 40.000 applicants around the world, the three of them succeeded to become the WORLD CHAMPION of this competition, beating team Singapore as the 1st runner up and team Colombia as the 2nd runner up. As the prize, they got USD 5.000 that they can donate for the charity of their choice, a brand new notebook, one-year exclusive career coaching sessions with Unilever’s senior leaders, and (hopefully) a job offer.FLLSINGAPORE, March 15th 2014. Team Indonesia also won the Cool Pick Award for the Team Video Introduction, made by the skillful hands of Arief Syakur and Try Juandha (SBM 2014) that have helped them in shooting and editing the Team Video.

Their journey started last year, in the National Rounds of Unilever Future Leaders’ League 2013. They were selected as the top 30 to compete for one week in Mega Mendung Learning Center, Cisarua. Aryo team managed to become National Champion, and Nasha’s team became the 1st Runner-Up. However, both Nasha and Aryo were crowned as Individual Winners along with Tari, and they were formed as a team to represent Indonesia at the global stage in Singapore.

They were passed several coaching sessions, and almost exactly one month ago. And the case for this year is TRESemme, a new and exciting Unilever hair care brand that have just been acquired from Alberto Culver in 2010. Their team had the idea to create TRESemme Style Protector, an innovative heat protector spray that can maintain hair style as well.

The global round itself was a life-changing experience for the team. They met with some of most powerful people in Unilever. On the first day, they were shared table at lunchtime with Unilever’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Paul Polman. As an exclusive reward for the winning team, they also had an afternoon tea with Unilever’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Harish Manwani and the Global Vice President of Human Resources, Mr. John Nolan. To top the experience, they were shared a limousine ride with TRESemme’s Global Brand Director, Mr. Chris Barron.

Most importantly, they were given the chance to ask as many questions as they can. The team had countless of sessions with Unilever’s Top 100 senior leaders (that happened to be in the same facility with us due to the UL2020 Leadership Training) and they can ask them questions freely. They also had chance to built networking with so many different people from different cultures, and celebrate the diversity together in a very healthy competitive spirit.

In a nutshell, Aryo wanted to share the happiness and pride of being the champion, since the team consisted of 2 students from SBM ITB. He also want to encourage all SBM ITB students to join this competition next year, since it has opened an endless world of possibilities for both Nasha and Aryo. They show big gratitude for every support and prayers for the team so they could make it this far.
