A digital marketing whiz, Yoga was named one of 100 most influential people in digital marketing world in Indonesia by Marketeers magazine in 2011. With involvements in digital marketing companies such as Panen Maya, a consulting and media group, and ideahub (invictus, simamaung, etc), Yoga dig deeper on the benefits of digital marketing and how to utilize social media platforms to expand your business.

In the talk show titled “Capitalising on Social Media to grow your Business”, Yoga introduces the term lazypreneur; businesses that initiated by people’s laziness. A perfect example of this, when Yoga first joined panenmaya in 2010, there are numerous brands felt that social media such as facebook and twitter are a big market for their audience but too lazy to handle them. Currently there are 70 brands handled by panenmaya only because the laziness in handling their own social media account. With Indonesia’s internet users increasing rapidly, the question are whether this digital craze will be beneficial for businesses and how to utilize it for the growth of our business.

Here are several examples of lazypreneur from Yoga:

  • Invictus: releases “Thank God” T-shirt series edition as the result of their laziness to design. In this edition, they let the consumer to decide their own typography from font type, font colour, T-shirt colour, text, etc.
  • @bdgtaxibike: offer a service to pick up things (documents, mobile phone, bag, wallet, etc) for those who left it at home or office or basically anywhere and deliver it to you.
  • larisbgt.com: it is a platform for people who are lazy to create website for online business. It helps you to install a store in facebook or twitter. All the product, price, payment term, and shipping information are displayed there so consumer will be able to shop directly within the timeline.
  • logoiseng.com: seeing the lack of interest in branding, these two designers from Indonesia’s leading agency created logoiseng.com to accommodate small businesses with an affordable logo for their business.

The discussion in the Q&A session sparks interest from students and asked questions ranging from which social media to use, what products are suitable to be sold in social media and whether we need to have all the social media channels, and the do’s and don’ts in social media. Yoga said whether it is necessary to have social media or not, it is entirely up to you. Thoroughly evaluate several social media channels and see which social media is the most effective. At the moment, of the social media platform available, facebook is still the preferred method for online sales because facebook platform can target a very specific market and that certain advertisement will only appear to the target we have chosen. So, take advantage of it while it last because the future of social media as platforms for sales is unpredictable.
