This field trip was attended by 47 students, Mr. Aldo F. Wiyana as the lecturer and teams of Career Services, Industrial & Alumni Relations. The purpose of this activity is that students can learn about the company’s supply chain where they can see and know firsthand how the distribution of goods, storage and display of goods before in the hands of consumers.

The event was opened with film show about work safety, and then continued with the introduction of management team of PT. He conveyed the history of Toserba Yogya, that previously appeared as a local retail player who come from a small batik shop into a local retail that is growing rapidly with many business units and different types of stores. Yogya

established many types of stores to meet the needs of society, both small and large scale such as GriyaMart, Yomart, Department Stores, Supermarkets, and department Store. Some private labels of Yogya are also quite famous, for example Bread Co, Magic Oven, Happy Duck, Elips, Ann Design, Chicken Sume, Paper co and others.

After that presentation was continued by Mr. I Nyoman Taktik about how the operation of Distribution Centre (DC) in Yogya Store. He explained that in order to facilitate the distribution channels in retail companies to get to the store requires DC or sub-DC. Previously, the company used a direct distribution channel from vendors to shops; that it was difficult for suppliers in checking goods, so that DC was established to facilitate the distribution process. Items which come received with sophisticated computerized system with barcode by category. Storage period is set based classification and retrieval is adapted to the length of storage. Storage of household items such as, food, electronics and fashion is also organized by the code and the date of entry and exit. This activity is managed by professionals who have been trained in advance.

This activity provides great benefit to students that they got explanations about the company profile and also obtained the opportunity to tour warehouses (DC) and could ask questions directly to the PIC of warehouse. This activity is expected to provide experience for students so that they can apply the knowledge they gained in the world of work in the future.
