SBM Dean Visit SwedenFrom 2 December till 6 December 2014, the Dean of SBM ITB, Professor Sudarso Kaderi W and a lecturer Dedy Sushandoyo, PhD participate in the two-week workshop on Innovation Systems and Entrepreneurship organised by Lund University, Sweden. Lund University is one of the best 100 universities in the world (QS Ranking) and the largest one in Sweden. A wide range of topics is presented during the workshop, which includes managing incubators, science and techno-parks as well as entrepreneurship. SBM Dean Visit SwedenFrom 2 December till 6 December 2014, the Dean of SBM ITB, Professor Sudarso Kaderi W and a lecturer Dedy Sushandoyo, PhD participate in the two-week workshop on Innovation Systems and Entrepreneurship organised by Lund University, Sweden. Lund University is one of the best 100 universities in the world (QS Ranking) and the largest one in Sweden. A wide range of topics is presented during the workshop, which includes managing incubators, science and techno-parks as well as entrepreneurship.

Both theories and practices related to those topics are presented and discussed. Some study visits are also conducted in order to provide practical insights on what is incubators, science and techno parks. The delegation has an opportunity to visit for example IDEON which is one of oldest and the most successful techno park in Europe. Not only the established techno-park is presented but also techno-parks in the makings, which are Medicon Valley for the area of pharmacy and Mobile Height for the area of ICT. More than that, the workshop participants also obtain useful insights on how world’s class research facilities can be potentially used for strengthening innovations and economy of a country. “We can learn a lot from Sweden and Lund University on how they manage innovations systems and entrepreneurship” as said by the SBM dean. “One of the important things we can learn from Sweden is how close collaboration between academy, business and government can deliver highly valuable innovations” as reflected by Dedy Sushandoyo.

The workshop is organised by Lund University with supports from the ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Educations of the Republic of Indonesia. 24 participants come from different organisations such as the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Bandung Institute of Technology, University of Indonesia and several government agencies.

Apart from the workshop, Professor Sudarso and Dedy Sushandoyo also make some meetings, which are the ones with the Dean of Economics and Management, the Director of the Centre for Innovation, Research and Competence in the Learning Economy (CIRCLE) and the Sten K. Johnson Centre of Entrepreneurship. Both center are among the largest ones in Europe in their respective areas. The results of the meetings are both parties agree to make mutual collaborations in the areas of student and lecturer mobility as well as joint research and co-publications. MoU between ITB and Lund University is soon signed by the rectors of those two prominent institutions. *** (DS)
