March 7, 2026

SBM ITB is expanding its international partnership network by establishing a strategic partnership with ESSCA School of Management, France. This collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held offline at the SBM ITB Jakarta Campus on Thursday (March 5). ESSCA School of Management is a leading business school in France with “Triple Crown” accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA) and a network of campuses in various international locations, including Budapest, Malaga, and Shanghai.

The Dean of SBM ITB, Prof. Aurik Gustomo, and the Dean and CEO of ESSCA Group, Dr Jean Charroin, signed this collaboration agreement. The event was also attended by the Director of International Affairs of ESSCA, Muriel Jacquelin, and the Director of International Relations of SBM ITB, Ira Fachira, along with leaders from both institutions.

This collaboration aims to facilitate academic exchanges, research collaborations, and the development of joint educational programs. The main focus of this partnership is the development of Double Degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate (Master’s) levels, which are expected to provide students with broader international exposure.

In his remarks, ESSCA Group CEO Dr Jean Charroin revealed that the collaboration had been planned since 2019 but delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are very enthusiastic to finally realize this collaboration. This is not just a student exchange, but a long-term partnership based on shared values and academic quality,” said Dr. Jean.

Charroin emphasized the importance of the French Embassy’s support in strengthening educational ties between the two countries.

Prof. Prof. Aurik Gustomo warmly welcomed the ESSCA team and stated that this collaboration is an important step for SBM ITB in strengthening its position on the global stage.

“With this double degree program, students will gain learning experience in two different business ecosystems, namely Indonesia and France, which will enrich their perspectives as future leaders,” said Prof. Aurik.

In addition to the double degree program, the two parties also discussed opportunities for more in-depth research collaboration, particularly by utilizing SBM ITB’s laboratory facilities, such as the Neuro-Business Lab, and by integrating with ESSCA’s “Kairos 2024-2027” strategy.

Through this collaboration, SBM ITB hopes to continue raising international education standards and to make a tangible contribution to producing graduates who can compete globally, in line with ITB’s vision to become an internationally recognized university.
