SBM ITB has established a strategic partnership with emlyon Business School (France) to expand access to global management education for Indonesian students. This collaboration opens up opportunities for dual-degree programs and cross-border research.
The agreement marks SBM ITB’s move to strengthen its position in the international business education network, amid the growing need for talent with a global perspective. SBM ITB Dean, Aurik Gustomo, said this partnership provides students with the opportunity to study in two educational systems simultaneously.
“Students not only gain academic exposure, but also cross-cultural experiences relevant to global business needs,” he said in Jakarta on Thursday (March 5).
Through this collaboration, the two institutions are preparing a double-degree scheme at the undergraduate and master’s levels, including 3+1 and 1+1 pathways that allow students to earn two degrees in a shorter time. Student and faculty exchange programs, as well as joint research, are also key components of the collaboration.
Emlyon President and Dean Isabelle Huault called this partnership more than just academic mobility.
“We see a shared entrepreneurial DNA. This collaboration aims to address global challenges through innovative management education,” she said.
Founded in 1872, emlyon is one of the oldest business schools in Europe and currently implements a “Resonance” strategy that emphasizes academic excellence and social impact.
Beyond education, the collaboration also opens up opportunities for joint research, including the use of facilities such as SBM ITB’s neurobusiness laboratory. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the contributions of both institutions in the development of technology- and behavior-based management science.
Antoine Bricout, a representative of the Institut Français Indonesia, assessed that this partnership also reflects the strong relationship between Indonesia and France in education. He stated that France remains a top destination for Indonesian students due to the quality of its institutions and academic system.
With a fast-track scheme and international exposure, this collaboration is expected to increase the competitiveness of Indonesian graduates in the global job market. Furthermore, it will strengthen the role of higher education institutions in the cross-border education ecosystem.
