For two months, School of Business and Management ITB had an opportunity to host a visiting professor from Durham University, Professor Muhammed Shahid Ebrahim. Professor Ebrahim arrived in Indonesia at the beginning of May and began his work at SBM. He held a lecture session on Islamic Financial System for Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Management, and Doctoral Science in Management programs.
Professor Ebrahim experienced Ramadhan and Eid Al-Fitr vibes during his stay in Bandung. Mr. Ahmad Dhanu invited Professor Ebrahim to join his family for Eid celebration. During Eid holidays, He showed Professor Ebrahim a couple of tourist spots around Bandung such as Ciwidey and Kawah Putih.
In order to broaden the perspective of Islamic Finance in Business Risk and Finance Department, Professor Ebrahim conducted some discussions with subject to the Islamic Finance Research Direction. The discussions were also joined by Mr. Lukman Arbi, PhD, visiting researcher in Islamic Finance CAR ITB. By the end of this session, topics significant to future research and Islamic finance development were decided.
In collaboration with the Mathematics Departments, SBM ITB held a Seminar on Islamic Finance. This seminar was open for public and attended by more than 30 participants. Several Professors from the Mathematics Department also attended the event and wished to have continued collaboration for Islamic Finance related topics.
To conclude, the visit was productive and created future opportunities for SBM ITB, Mathematics Department and Durham University for further collaboration.
