Industrial Engineering and Operation Management (IEOM) Society held the 2nd Asia Pacific Indonesia Conference on Thursday (16/9/2021). On this occasion, Prof. Wawan Dhewanto, ST., M.Sc., Ph.D. of School of Business and Management (SBM), the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) received the Outstanding Professor in Business Management Award.
IEOM Society is a global non-profit organization focusing on improving Industrial Engineering and Operation Management. They put wonderful values, such as globalization, diversity, inclusion, innovation and focus on student empowerment and professionals’ development, partnership, and sustainability. They put their effort into better humanity by providing communication and networking among people, especially in developing countries.
Since 2014, IEOM has held yearly international conferences for educators, researchers, and professionals and awards them for their significant contribution. The contribution can be teaching, research, publication, service, leadership in the field, or innovation on industrial engineering and operations management.
One of the most prestigious awards for a lecturer is the outstanding teaching award which recognizes an individual’s contributions through remarkable teaching and learning. This award program honors a lecturer who stimulates the student with curiosity, demonstrates a commitment to being a role model as a teacher, and positively influences career development and teaching improvement.
This award is divided into several industrial engineering and operation management sectors, such as business management, logistics, supply chain, ergonomics, and lean six sigma. This year, the Outstanding Professor in Business Management Award Category is awarded to Prof. Wawan Dhewanto, ST., M.Sc., Ph.D.
Prof. Wawan, the Professor of Entrepreneurship and Technology Management Interest Group, has joined SBM ITB since January 2004.
He has a great commitment to education and shows extraordinary work during his teaching throughout his career in SBM ITB. He was chosen as the Interest Group/Expertise Group Head from 2011 until 2017 and as the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship Program Director for five years, 2013 to 2018. Moreover, Prof. Wawan has been serving as General Secretary of the ITB Academic Senate since 2019.
He also demonstrated his commitment by teaching several classes and also wrote several books on entrepreneurship and technology management. He also conducted some research focusing on the entrepreneurship ecosystem, digital start-up, small and medium enterprise, and business innovation.
Through his dedication to the knowledge and advancement of teaching, Prof. Wawan Dhewanto, ST., M.Sc., Ph.D. managed to become the awardee of IEOM Society’s Outstanding Professor in Business Management Award and be the pride of SBM ITB.
