Human participation in all sectors is critical to the principle of sustainable development. As implementers, planners, supervisors, decision-makers, and leaders, humans are expected to do more than carry out their expertise. We have a responsibility to each other, the environment today, and future generations under the principle of sustainability.

Thus, we are indeed aware of the significance of education for every human being in Indonesia. To clarify this topic, on Saturday (8/11/2021), the SBM ITB Marketing and Communications team had the opportunity to interview Achmad Ghazali, the Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation at SBM ITB.

Human education, as we all know, is more than just a transfer of knowledge, and however, it is necessary to include personality development in the process. Achmad, who has been the Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation at SBM ITB since 2012, ensures that the quality of education provided not only produces alumni with qualified knowledge but also leaders with integrity and a spirit of sustainability.

“Management in Education is more than just a curriculum. We develop critical, responsible, and sustainable values and ways of thinking to fully be internalized in each student’s character. The alumni are hoped to become innovative, humanist, and responsible leaders. The best education is to shape people as human beings, not as products,” says the Assistant Professor from SBM ITB’s People and Knowledge Management Interest Group.

SBM ITB, the next world-class campus

Like Jeff Bezos’s principle of “Day One Mentality,” Achmad said that SBM ITB had also implemented a culture of “not easily satisfied” with the existing services and facilities. Even though it has national recognition and is accredited by BAN-PT, SBM ITB will continue to strive to provide more than what we have today. Hence, Achmad and the Quality Assurance and Accreditation team invite the entire community to help make SBM ITB a world-class campus.

“It would be a dream if SBM receives Triple Crown Accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (United States), The Association of MBAs (United Kingdom), and The EFMD Quality Improvement System (European Union),” says the alumni of the National Institute of Technology, Bandung Institute of Technology, and Massey University in New Zealand (Aotearoa).

SBM ITB will soon join Beta Gamma Sigma, The International Business Honor Society, allowing it to join a network of the world’s best business schools. It is hoped that graduates will have global capacities due to international accreditation and established relationships with the rest of the world.

Achmad also concluded the interview with a discussion on Quality Assurance and Accreditation to address regional challenges. He stated that SBM ITB saw numerous opportunities in the ASEAN Economic Community and The Future of Asia. We can only meet this challenge by ensuring the quality of all organizations and those involved in education.

So far, SBM ITB has collaborated with various universities in Asia through the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) and the ASEAN University Network for Business and Economics (AUN BE). For example, Seoul National University, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, University Putra Malaysia, University Utara Malaysia, University of Malaya, Chulalongkorn University Thailand, Sasin School of Management Thailand, Thammasat University Thailand, Chiang Mai University, National Institute of Development Administration, University of Indonesia and Gadjah Mada University.

“I hope that in the future we can give more than we do now. We can be more motivated to innovate and achieve a World-Class Campus if we have a Day One Mentality and a collaborative spirit. As a result, we can build a more positive learning ecosystem for students, parents, communities, nations, and countries,” he concludes.
