Indonesia’s online business opportunities have increased by 400% since 2020, the beginning of the pandemic. With Indonesia’s population of more than 250,2 million, 73.3% of internet users, and up to eight hours of daily screen time, selling online is undoubtedly an excellent and promising choice.

It was said by Shan Diaspora from Shopee in a Coaching Clinic for UKM Jabar 2022 entitled “Marketing Opportunities Through Online Business”, Thursday (24/2/2022). This event was organized by The Greater Hub together with LPIK ITB, SBM ITB, and Shopee.

Shan also described various products that were selling well during the pandemic, such as health care equipment, health tools, products, food and staples, and others. “Of course, selling online during the New Normal is the right choice because it can reduce outside activities and contact with other people,” said Shan. Selling online can also be profitable, coupled with wide distribution with delivery services and flexibility in energy and time compared to offline stores.

In his presentation, Shan also added knowledge about the seven stages of buyer psychology: Exposure, Interest, Imagination, Compare, Convince, Decision, and Satisfaction. In this case, Shopee will support sellers on Shopee with various promos such as free shipping promos, special promos for new sellers, and others.

Shopee, in this regard, is also committed to developing Indonesian sellers and MSMEs through various programs, for example, Shopee Tutoring, Shopee Export KMKM Campus, and Shopee Campus. Finally, Shan explained three stages to increase sales on Shopee: Content by increasing product variety, product photos, and product descriptions; Promotions with free shipping programs, store promos or vouchers, and product upgrade features; and Interaction by sharing to social media, shopee live, and shopee feeds, and shopee chat.
