The need for a workforce with business intelligence and analytics capabilities in the digital era is now increasing. Thus, the ITB School of Business Management invited the Head of GoTo Financial’s Business Intelligence Center of Excellence, Zulhans R. Maharoesman, to be a guest lecturer in the Business Intelligence and Analytical Systems course (15/11/2022).

“Data is the voice of the customer,” said Zulhans opening his presentation session.

Zulhans shared his experience working in this field on GoTo. He further explained that by understanding and analyzing customer data, the largest technology company in Southeast Asia has succeeded in increasing the level of customer satisfaction and supporting the company’s decision-making strategy.

Zulhans mentioned four data processing positions in digital companies, such as GoTo: data analysts, data engineers, machine learning engineers, and data scientists. Zulhans also explained the responsibilities of each position and the abilities required in those positions.

These positions often run the intelligence business. According to Zulhans, business intelligence is an umbrella covering the processes and methods of collecting, storing, and analyzing data. Business Intelligence is often implemented in companies to assist business needs in priority identification, data application and analysis, data collection, data cleansing, data mapping, data integration, data analysis, and modeling, data visualization and user interfaces, product testing, and assisting areas of operations and maintenance.

Business Intelligence helps many aspects in running a business. Among others are identifying and understanding the company’s customers, providing recommendations to improve customer experience, supporting marketing experiments or campaigns, and understanding the latest company trends and customer pain points.
