The University of Indonesia Computer Festival (Compfest) 2023 marked a significant achievement for three Bandung Institute of Technology students. The Maya team won second in the Business-IT Case Competition (Bizzit) category with their innovative Connected IoT Mirror solution. Compfest is an annual national event organized by the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Indonesia, and this year’s edition took place on November 19, 2023.

The winning team comprises three students from different faculties: Saskia Deffa Fabriend (Management 24), Clara Alrosa Fernanda Sinaga (Information Systems & Technology 21), and Priscilla Auleader Napitupulu (Information Systems & Technology 21). The collaboration between business and information technology expertise within the team proved to be the key to their success.

“We chose the Bizzit category because it requires teams to create solutions not only focused on technology but also the business side, aligning with the expertise of each team member,” explained Saskia on November 27.

During the final round, they successfully tackled the challenge within eight hours. The challenge required the team to devise a solution to a problem using an information technology (IT)-based approach. The Maya team proposed the Connected IoT Mirror technology concept, concentrating on three main aspects: the company, customers, and the future.

Clara was responsible the research and background aspects, delving into journals and identifying prevalent problems. Priscilla focused on product development, crafting implementable solutions, and formulating strategy. Saskia’s role revolved around business aspects such as marketing strategy, business analysis, financial projections, and prototyping.

“We consistently engage in discussions to align understanding and formulate solutions collaboratively, ensuring that the solutions we create address existing problems,” said Clara.

Clara emphasized the importance of continuous learning and self-development, even after finding the right team. Through team exploration, she learned about her strengths and weaknesses and those of her teammates.
