Visiting SLB Bandung, SBM ITB Management Student Families inspire the students

April 14, 2026

The Teaching and Learning School Program from the Management Student Families of School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB), visited SLB-B Prima Bhakti Mulia, a school for the deaf in Bandung (April 10). The visit included various activities.

KMM also presented Hasbi Ridha Ilahi, a member of the writing community and an alumnus of Padjadjaran University. Hasbi shared his life journey from school to the professional world with the students.

“This seminar and visit have made many of our students aware that numerous opportunities await them beyond the confines of this school. ‘They can dream and aim as high as they want,’ said Karin, Principal of Prima Bhakti Special Needs School.”

Several students approached the SBM ITB volunteers to inquire about university admissions and the academic system at ITB.

After the seminar, the activity shifted to a series of crafts: making scented candles, stringing yarn, and drawing batik motifs. Communication took place through sign language and lip reading.

“I gained a new perspective on communication,” said Fathia, one of the SBM ITB volunteers. “Even without speaking, they were able to express so much through their gestures and expressions. This made me realize that communication is never really about sound.”

Joy Daniel Bangun, Chairperson of the SBM ITB Management Student Family, said this activity demonstrates the long-term commitment of KMM and SBM ITB to community service.

“We want people to have no barriers in their lives, whether verbal or vocal.”
