Understanding business mindset and reality with Andi Pangeran

April 16, 2026

Andi Pangeran, the founder of several brands including Owners Worldwide, Gurls Club, Roofair, Disclosure, Homer Coffee, Disclosure Coffee, and Poseroom, shared that his business journey began with a curiosity about the market. He started from humble beginnings by opening a small stall.

Over time, the business he built experienced rapid growth. He expressed that from the start, he believed that achieving future success would be a source of pride, and now, that belief has become a reality.

However, behind these achievements, his business journey has not been without challenges and dynamics.

“Running a business isn’t as easy as it appears. Every idea is merely a hypothesis until it proves itself in reality. The mindset of an entrepreneur can be summarized as: build, learn, repeat,” stated Andi during a guest lecture at the Integrated Business Experience 2 (IBE 2) at the School of Business and Management, Bandung Institute of Technology (SBM ITB), on April 15.

Andi emphasized the importance of having the right mindset as an entrepreneur. Long-term commitment is the main foundation for building a business. Furthermore, business literacy and financial understanding are equally important.

He highlighted the importance of mental resilience in navigating business dynamics and uncertain situations. An entrepreneur must be willing to take risks, but still needs to have mitigation strategies to maintain business sustainability.

“Nothing in business is ever truly certain, except for one thing: failure. Failure is an unavoidable aspect of the journey towards success,” he stated. He also hires capable individuals and fosters strong partnerships. However, the most critical aspect is establishing values and principles as the foundation for running a business.

He emphasized the importance of understanding product-market fit, conducting customer profiling, and effectively managing revenue streams, cost structures, tax strategies, and distribution and communication channels.

Additionally, he discussed the significance of effective people management, building a competitive advantage, efficiently allocating capital, and leveraging resources to drive sustainable business growth.

In the past two to three years, Andi has faced significant losses. However, he has not allowed this to deter his progress.

“What keeps me going is my big dreams, a positive mindset, the ability to see the bright side in both successes and failures, and a strong commitment to keep fighting,” he said. “Start with what you have, and build from what you learn.”
