Global path to excellence: SBM ITB and UW–Madison launch 2+1+1 academic pathway supported by LPDP

April 17, 2026

The School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB), is pleased to announce a new academic collaboration with the University of Wisconsin–Madison (UW–Madison), USA. This partnership introduces a 2+1+1 academic pathway for undergraduate students, providing a structured route from bachelor’s study at SBM ITB to a master’s degree at UW–Madison.

Under this scheme, selected students from the Bachelor of Management and Bachelor of Entrepreneurship programs will spend their third year at UW–Madison through the Visiting International Student Program (VISP). During this period, students will undertake coursework within the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics (AAE), including subjects such as Applied Microeconomics Theory, Applied Econometrics, and Global Commodity Markets and Agribusiness Management.

Following the completion of their undergraduate studies at ITB, participants will be eligible for priority consideration for admission into the Master of Science Professional Option (MSPO) at UW–Madison. The program is designed to integrate academic rigor with applied professional training in economics and related fields.

This initiative is further supported by Indonesia’s education endowment fund (LPDP) under the Beasiswa Akselerasi Magister (integrated S1–S2 program), a newly introduced funding scheme that supports accelerated academic pathways from undergraduate to postgraduate levels. Through this scheme, eligible students in integrated or structured transition programs may apply for funding to pursue their master’s degree, subject to LPDP’s selection criteria and policies. This collaboration reflects SBM ITB’s ongoing commitment to expanding international academic opportunities and strengthening global engagement. By connecting undergraduate education with postgraduate pathways at a leading international institution, the program is expected to contribute to the development of graduates equipped to operate in an increasingly global and interdisciplinary environment.
