The School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB), is exploring several international collaboration opportunities through the Melbourne Innovation Connections Program 2026, held by the City of Melbourne from July 12–16, 2026. These opportunities include partnerships between SBM ITB’s The Greater Hub (TGH) Business Incubator and innovation organizations in Melbourne, research collaborations with RMIT University, and knowledge exchanges with partners from Vietnam and India.
SBM ITB was represented by Dr. Dina Dellyana, Associate Professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Director of The Great Hub, SBM ITB’s business incubator. In the program, she joined innovation ecosystem leaders from Australia, Vietnam, and India to build cross-border collaborations in innovation and entrepreneurship.
This participation is part of SBM ITB’s efforts to expand its global network and promote Indonesia’s experience in building innovation ecosystems. Through discussions and networking activities, participants exchanged best practices in startup development, research commercialization, and collaboration between universities, industry, investors, and government.
The delegation visited several innovation hubs in Melbourne, including Melbourne Connect, the Wade Institute of Entrepreneurship, the Natural Velocity Innovation Centre, and the RMIT Activator. The visit demonstrated how universities collaborate with industry and government to accelerate research downstreaming, support the growth of technology-based startups, and build a sustainable innovation ecosystem.
The lessons learned from the visit are expected to inform the development of entrepreneurship and business incubation programs at SBM ITB, particularly through TGH.
The program also featured roundtable discussions, investment sessions, and executive matchmaking, connecting participants with stakeholders in the Australian innovation ecosystem. Through these forums, SBM ITB engaged directly with investors, innovation hub managers, and startup support organizations to explore collaborations in entrepreneurship development, investment readiness, and business incubation programs.
In addition to participating in the program, Dina was a guest speaker at RMIT University. In a lecture titled “Orchestrating Tech-Based Innovation Ecosystems: From Fragmentation to Value Co-Creation,” she introduced the “Innovation Ecosystem Orchestration Canvas,” a framework that emphasizes the importance of coordination between actors in building a technology-based innovation ecosystem.
Using Bandung as a case study, Dina explained how integrated collaboration between universities, government, industry, investors, and startups can generate more sustainable innovation impact.
The Melbourne Innovation Connections Program 2026 concluded with a session on “Action Alignment & Next Steps” to develop plans for further collaboration. This participation demonstrated SBM ITB’s commitment to enhancing international collaborations that support education, research, and entrepreneurship, while also reinforcing its role in driving innovation and providing solutions to challenges at both national and global levels.
