Financial management skills are not only essential for entrepreneurs or business leaders; they are equally important for mothers and household managers. To promote this understanding, SBM ITB held a community service event titled “Financial Literacy for Great Mothers” at the Cicadas Family Welfare Movement (PKK) Center in Bandung on June 29.
Atika Irawan, an SBM ITB lecturer, served as the keynote speaker, delivering practical and relatable material on daily household financial management. Her presentation covered topics such as preparing a household budget, the importance of saving, and strategies to avoid consumer debt. The content was delivered in simple language and supported by interactive simulations to ensure easy comprehension by participants.
The event was part of the Community Service (Pengmas) program organized by the Business Risk and Finance (BRF) Expertise Group at SBM ITB. Head of the Pengmas activity, Raden Aswin Rahadi, underscored the importance of financial education at the household level, especially for women as primary financial decision-makers within families.
A key highlight of the event was the enthusiastic participation of women from the Cicadas PKK. The session was dynamic, with participants engaging in discussions and posing practical questions about managing household finances.
In his remarks, Aswin noted that the event reflects ITB’s commitment to improving public financial literacy. He expressed hope that similar initiatives would be implemented in other areas of Bandung and its surroundings.
Through this program, SBM ITB aims to make a meaningful contribution to enhancing family well-being by promoting simple yet impactful financial management education.
