Profile

Achmad Ghazali is an Associate Professor of Knowledge Management and Digital Technology at the School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB). His teaching and research span Human Capital Management, Knowledge Management, Digital Business Experience, Creative Industries, Learning Organizations, and Sustainable Development—exploring how people, knowledge, and technology drive innovation and organizational transformation in the digital era.

He played a pivotal leadership role in guiding SBM ITB to achieve AACSB International Accreditation, ensuring global standards of academic excellence and continuous improvement. With over a decade of experience in Quality Assurance and Institutional Development, he has helped shape SBM ITB’s strategy to align education, research, and impact.

Beyond academia, he is an experienced consultant and speaker for ministries, government agencies, state-owned enterprises, multinational corporations, and global organizations such as UNESCO. His work consistently integrates academic insight with practical transformation, positioning him as a leading advocate for knowledge-driven and human-centered organizational development in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Industry & Policy Engagement

  • 1. Consultancy and Applied Research Leadership Dr. Ghazali has led and participated in over 40 consulting and applied research projects involving state-owned enterprises (SOEs), ministries, multinational corporations, and global organizations such as UNESCO. His consultancy portfolio covers: - Knowledge Management ecosystems and digital transformation, including projects with Pertamina, PLN, Perhutani, and BPPT. - Human Capital and Competency frameworks, such as Competency-Based Job Profiling and Training Design for Pertamina Lubricants, Pertamina Kilang Internasional, and PT SMF. - Organizational design, remuneration, and workforce analysis for major industrial firms (Dirgantara Indonesia, Pindad, Telkom). - Creative Economy and Tourism Policy Studies, including the Blueprint of Indonesia’s Creative Economy 2015–2025, scenario planning, and recovery strategies for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. - UNESCO-commissioned studies on digital learning and education policy for equitable and inclusive learning across Southeast Asia
  • 2. Frameworks and Tools Applied Across these engagements, he applies and teaches globally recognized frameworks such as the Knowledge Management Ecosystem, SECI Model, Bassi Human Capital Framework, Lean Six Sigma, Business Model Canvas, and Balanced Scorecard. These are utilized to strengthen institutional decision-making, capability building, and organizational learning in both private and public sectors.
  • 3. Policy and Institutional Development Contributions Dr. Ghazali contributed to several policy-oriented white papers and government studies, including those for BAPPENAS, BKPM, and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, addressing national competitiveness, digital readiness, and human capital transformation. His work in quality assurance and accreditation systems has also directly informed SBM ITB’s governance reforms, culminating in successfully leading the task force that achieved AACSB International accreditation—a landmark for Indonesian business schools

Capacity Building, Training, and Knowledge Dissemination Dr. Ghazali has designed and delivered executive programs and policy workshops for a wide range of organizations, including Bank Indonesia, PLN, BTN, Astra, Pupuk Indonesia, and Pelindo Peti Kemas. His programs emphasize leadership, ethics, knowledge management, digital transformation, and organizational culture. These initiatives reflect his ongoing commitment to translating knowledge into practical, systemic change across industries and public institutions.
