This was revealed by Rima Mega, Owner of Your Socks and also MBA ITB Alumni from CCE Batch 58 in the Leaders Forum & Alumni Talks event organized by the SBM ITB at Newangkawi Auditorium 6th floor, Freeport Building, Saturday (10/12/2019). “In my opinion, big data is important especially in the era of digitalization and industry 4.0” said Rima.

With the use of big data, when sales were down, it could be utilized for example by sending promos by SMS blast. “In this way, sales usually increase again,” she said.

Rima added, the key to build a business is willingness and consistency. And continue to learn new things including the use of technology such as big data. “I started a business with of Rp 30.000 as funding and now the turnover can reach Rp 150.000.000 to Rp 200.000.000,” she concluded.

Meanwhile on the same occasion, Oki Earlivan, CEO of Tripologic, a fast growing startup in logistic and also Chairman of Edulab Indonesia, who also Bachelor of Management batch 2007 alumni said that entrepreneurs should bring social impact, because when we decide to become entrepreneurs, that’s where we will start thinking about how many people who received impact from direct and indirect business. “Entrepreneur is social impact,” Oki stressed.

Entrepreneur is not a theory because when in the real world, some of the theories we learn in class do not apply even in the digital era like today. “The point is, when we want to be entrepreneurs, then don’t plan or use too much theory, but immediately execute the plan, he stressed.

Mentioned about college periods, Oki said he was proud to be the first graduate of SBM ITB in 2007, because there was something that other business schools did not have, namely network. “For the business world, networking is important,” he explained.

Oki added, there were courses that were felt to be very useful which is Integrated Business Experience (IBE) courses and that was not available at other schools. “There is no business school that encourages its students to become entrepreneurs, and at the same time get capital assistance in addition to SBM ITB,” he concluded.

Alumni Talks event was a new program from SBM ITB with the aim of increasing engagement between SBM and Alumni and also the juniors. “At present there are a lot of SBM ITB alumni who have been successful in various fields,” said N. Nurlaela, Director of Alumni Relations and Communications SBM ITB.

In this Alumni Talks, Alumni told how the challenges when starting their business, ups and downs developing business and strategies to develop business to penetrate the expo market, as revealed by Oki Earlivan and Rima Gema.

Present at this inaugural event Besides Rima Gema and Oki Earlivan there were two other SBM alumni who shared their experiences at the event, namely Libertha Hutapea, AVP People Partner & Talent Development at Tokopedia, Alumni of MSM ITB Batch 2006 and Fahmi Hendrawan, CEO of Fatih Indonesia, Alumni of MBA ITB CCE program Batch 56 .
