COVID-19 has become a worldwide disease epidemic in the past year.  There are so many negative impacts caused by this COVID-19.  It is not only in the health sector that has changed drastically.  Even from the pattern of work, lectures, daily habits also change from usual.  For example, the shopping habits of consumers have changed to “panic buying”.  From the term panic buying, it directly changes the Indonesian economy.  However, in the 1st quarter of 2020 when COVID-19 broke out, the Indonesian people felt they had an optimistic attitude regarding Indonesia’s economic recovery.

Customer behavior

Technology that is increasingly sophisticated in the current era is one good method to help every consumer survive this Pandemic.  Through technology, which used to be a shopping system for consumers from the traditional way, migrated to all online platforms, just like when buying food: take out the delivery.  Even consumers say they hope to spend more on social media.

When we look at the condition of Indonesia, in the second quarter of 2020. In fact, the public’s purchasing power has decreased due to the PSBB and even led to a recession when it entered the third quarter. And by the end of 2020, the state of Indonesia’s economy when surveyed by Bank Indonesia had returned to optimism.

Young generation

During this current situation, we must be able to contribute to Indonesia’s economic recovery.  The simple thing we can do is let’s buy a local brand to help improve Indonesia’s economy.  In addition, as a wise consumer, you should not apply the principle of “panic buying” when shopping.  Buy in moderation and notice that the consumer is not just you.

As the young generation, we must be able to think creatively, innovatively and adaptively in order to be able to survive today. During this pandemic, many young people even lost their jobs. So, when there are new job opportunities from new businesses, it will certainly help the Indonesian economy as well.
