Tiara Alunan (Bachelor of Management Alumni Batch 2021), who is fondly called Alun, is one of the alumni who has a passion for the field of Marketing as well as community empowerment. After receiving his undergraduate education at SBM ITB, he got the opportunity to work at a Komerce (start-up), which was awarded as one of the 12 Innovators who can transform education in the future!

Komerce is a start-up that is changing the lives of Indonesian rural communities by unlocking the potential of e-commerce through education. This innovative platform teaches young Indonesians e-commerce skills. It connects them with small and medium-sized businesses in their rural cities to boost the local economy and provide opportunities for young people.

As a graduate of SBM ITB who has a business & leadership mindset, he was selected to assume a strategic role at Komerce as a Business Development Officer. According to Alunan, the position of Business Development Officer is at the heart of a company to develop from time to time. Some of the activities that Alunan does as BDO are not far from research & development activities.

“Being a BDO requires two main abilities, namely research & communication skills. I need to understand the industry as well as the product/service being undertaken. In addition, I also need to analyze market segmentation and contact potential partners to be interested in our company’s products/services,” said Alunan enthusiastically to SBM ITB friends.

In addition, Alunan also appreciated the role of SBM ITB to support his development during his education. Because being a student at SBM ITB is about learning business concepts and character development training to become an innovative individual & ready to face change. Thus, the overall experience of 3.5 years with SBM ITB becomes the most solid foundation for a career in any industry. She also indirectly gave listeners a message, especially those who are still in college, not to hesitate to explore themselves and be bolder in making decisions when they graduate. At the end of the talk, she was delighted to be part of a start-up that is recognized by the world. Moreover, there will be more innovative services from Komerce that provide solutions and provide a sustainable positive impact in the future.
