Auditors introduce audit to new students of SBM ITB

December 12, 2022

SBM ITB invited a teacher, banking trainer, and auditor, Audita Setiawan SE., MM.,CT.,CTA.,ACP., to present as a guest lecture about Introduction to Business for new SBM ITB students on (04/11/2022). Besides teaching, Audita serves as Corporate Secretary at Sangga Buana University YPKP Bandung.

Audit, auditor, and auditee are still foreign to fresh business school students. So Audita guided new students to get to know the proper role and attitude of an auditor. Audita begins by explaining the philosophy of auditing to students.

Audita explained that an audit involves collecting and examining evidence related to the information to determine whether the information obtained and reported meets predetermined standards. According to Audita, there are three types of audits, namely financial report audits, compliance audits, and operational audits.

Audita also talked about the millennial generation in the internal audit and compliance department. The millennial generation is very optimistic, tech-savvy, can tolerate differences, and doesn’t hesitate to voice their opinions.

However, this generation still needs to develop to fully take over auditing in the future. For example, they need to be more challenging, improve communication, and become more mature and experienced.

Finally, Audita emphasizes the ethical principles of an auditor, namely having integrity, objectivity, professionalism, and carefulness, maintaining confidentiality, and behaving professionally. In the audit industry and other industries, auditors must maintain professionalism in the workplace.

In short, professionalism is a positive work attitude based on high enthusiasm to get optimal results. To become a professional, one must have solid skills and knowledge, be responsible and meet moral standards, have clear strategic planning skills, have a good work ethic, and have a passion for contributing to society.

Audita closed the lecture by reading the angel principle from Ary Ginanjar.

“Be good all the time not because you expect something, but because you realize that is the role you have to play. Let goodness flow from your hands and let your mind be free from feelings of merit.”
