Two teams of students from the SBM ITB won 1st and 3rd place in the “Business Plan Competition UI talks 3.0 2023” held by the Center for Entrepreneurship Development and Studies, University of Indonesia (CEDS UI). The awards were held in the Hall on the 10th floor of the Depok City Government Dibaleka Building on Saturday (18/11).

The LobsTech team, consisting of Pieter Jose Santoso, Gloria Galore Sinaga, and Drago Grafany Cuangga, won 1st place. The team presented a business idea centered around technology that utilizes waste ketapang leaves and eggshells to enhance the water quality of lobster ponds.

“We observed that a significant amount of ketapang leaf waste was only utilized for bettas, with the survival rate for lobsters in ponds hovering around 0.5%,” explained Pieter. “Through Lobstech, we aim to address this issue using ketapang leaves and eggshell flour to regulate pH and IoT to detect and stabilize water quality in ponds. This solution increases the lobster survival rate to 80%.”

On the other hand, the Mengasihi team, consisting of Zakaria Khoiri Hermawan, Desya Zalfa, Muhammad Razan, and Adi Mahendra Wibowo, secured 3rd place. Their business idea focused on providing a breast milk powdering service for personal use without compromising the nutritional value of breast milk.

“We aim to assist breastfeeding mothers facing challenges in storing breast milk,” shared Desya. “(This way), breastfeeding mothers can preserve their breast milk for an extended period without reducing its nutritional value.”

The success of these two SBM ITB student teams is evidence of the remarkable abilities and potential that SBM ITB students possess in entrepreneurship. The teams shared tips for students aspiring to win business plan competitions or similar events.

Critical advice includes ensuring the products align with the competition theme, building a solid and experienced team in their respective fields, creating an engaging and informative pitch deck, and conducting thorough business analysis.
