The DiSC instrument plays a pivotal role in understanding individuals’ behavior, characteristics, and personality styles within a business setting. This is particularly invaluable for entrepreneurs embarking on new ventures.

For this reason, the SBM ITB organized a workshop focused on the application of DiSC for startup businesses. The event, held at the SBM ITB Freeport Building in Bandung on Thursday (22/2), featured Nurfaisa Hidayanti S.Psi., M.Psi., a psychologist, part-time researcher, and lecturer at SBM ITB, as a key speaker.

The workshop attracted diverse participants, not limited to ITB students with startup businesses but also individuals from outside the university. Its primary objective was to equip startup founders with the knowledge to examine their team members’ distinct characteristics and behaviors through the DiSC instrument.

The session commenced with participants completing a questionnaire, followed by the facilitator’s comprehensive presentation on leveraging the DiSC instrument.

DiSC serves as a profound tool for identifying individuals’ behavioral and personality styles. According to Nurfaisa, an individual’s personality can be formed from a collection of behaviors of a developing individual. The instrument is particularly beneficial for gaining deeper insights into individuals or groups during business or work activities, making it a critical psychological development tool within corporate settings.

However, Nurfaisa emphasized that the DiSC instrument is not intended for commercialization or addressing general inquiries without substantial relevance.

The DiSC framework delineates distinct classifications, each with unique strengths and weaknesses, impacting relationship-building strategies. Nurfaisa highlighted the importance of adaptation when individuals with varying DiSC profiles interact within the same environment.

Concluding the workshop, Nurfaisa affirmed the profound utility of the DiSC instrument in the professional and business world, highlighting its potential to benefit the startup ventures of the participants significantly.
