The winners represented universities from Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Australia, and Vietnam.
“ICMEM is a blend of engaging and intellectually stimulating events,” said Angel Permata Jauhari, an awardee the LPDP Double Degree scholarship from SBM ITB and The University of Queensland, Australia.
One of the Best Paper awardees shared her appreciation for the conference, noting its critical engagement with contemporary issues while maintaining an enjoyable atmosphere for participants.

I look forward to attending future ICMEM conferences,” said Shintaro Fujita, a master’s student in Social System Science at the Shibaura Institute of Technology and participant in ICMEM 2024.
During the closing remarks, the Dean of SBM ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ignatius Pulung Nurprasetio, M.SME, emphasized the importance of academic collaboration inspired by the beauty of the archipelago. He noted that the innovation fostered by such conferences serves as a critical driver of change.
“Where knowledge flows, and ideas convene,” he stated.
Prof. Manabu Ichikawa from the Shibaura Institute of Technology, representing SBM ITB’s partner institutions, expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian participants who attended the conference.
“In our workshop on agent-based modeling, some attendees were introduced to the concept for the first time, while others were already familiar with it or had even applied the model,” Manabu remarked. “Our journey doesn’t end here. I hope the knowledge shared will inspire future research collaborations.”
International participants attending the event in person were treated to Indonesian specialties and traditional Balinese cultural performances. Many expressed satisfaction with the conference, which spanned two days and offered opportunities to present research to the global academic community.
