Margareth Setiawan revived her family’s traditional retail business into a modern fashion brand, Kalimas Kosambi. When giving a guest lecture on Strategic Management and Agile Enterprise at the SBM ITB (16/4), Margareth delivered “The Story of Kalimas Kosambi”.

She drew on her own experiences with making strategic decisions, demonstrating resilience in entrepreneurship, and recognizing the importance of agility when facing changes in the business world. According to Margareth, these three elements are the key factors for achieving success in business.

Margareth, an alumnus of SBM ITB, explained how she applied various thinking frameworks that she had learned at SBM ITB to real challenges in the field. Her business journey is a real example of how theory can be realized in practice, especially in times of uncertainty such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under her leadership, Kalimas Kosambi has expanded into digital channels, restructured operations, and maintained customer-focused values to remain competitive and relevant.

According to Margareth, strategy is not static but a living and evolving process. Strategy is not only about frameworks and management tools, but also about the mindset needed to lead amidst uncertainty.
