SBM ITB recently received the prestigious Entrepreneurial Marketing Award as a Campus for Impact from MarkPlus. This award recognizes SBM ITB’s rapid growth, based on excellence in entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation. SBM ITB is considered successful in integrating education, research, and community service programs to make a real contribution.

The Dean of SBM ITB, Prof. Dr. Aurik Gustomo, highlighted that this award is especially significant as it is bestowed by MarkPlus, an organization founded by Hermawan Kartajaya, recognized as the “Indonesian Marketing Guru.”

“This award recognizes SBM ITB’s achievements over the years, especially in building excellence based on our uniqueness,” he said on Friday (August 22).

Aurik stated that the Entrepreneurial Marketing Award serves as a driving force to continue innovating and creating something tangible that will ultimately benefit many people.

“Entrepreneurship involves identifying opportunities, whereas marketing focuses on creating a unique identity. This suggests that SBM ITB can add value to future programs through collaboration with various other faculties, ultimately leading to significant advancements for Indonesia,” he stated.

Since its establishment, SBM ITB has aimed to become a world-class business school by creating an international academic environment. This ambition is characterized by six key features:

First, all lectures are delivered in English. Second, the school hosts over 200 international students annually, which is likely the largest number of international students among faculties at Indonesian universities.

Third, SBM ITB employs a minimum of 10 permanent foreign lecturers and visiting professors. Fourth, the school offers double or joint degree programs in collaboration with more than 20 international partners, many of which boast triple accreditation from AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS.

Fifth, it has achieved prestigious international accreditation, such as AACSB. Finally, SBM ITB boasts a reputable business incubator with an international network that nurtures and develops innovative startups, enabling them to grow and secure significant funding from investors.

SBM’s presence at ITB provides an additional advantage by strengthening science, technology, and the arts through collaboration between faculties, fostering a growth mindset with a multidisciplinary approach/perspective.

“By being at ITB, SBM can build multidisciplinary programs supported by science, technology, and the arts, which are the strengths of other faculties at ITB,” added Aurik. “We must develop students who are capable of working in super teams, capable of delivering innovations or changes that are not easily imitated by other business entities.”

In recent years, SBM ITB has successfully fostered a strong scientific culture. Each year, approximately 50 publications are produced in top-tier international journals (Q1). SBM is also expanding its contributions beyond academia to include societal impact programs by integrating the Tridharma (Three Pillars of Excellence) and building engagement within its ecosystem. A notable example is the Cirata-Purwakarta regional development program, which involves students, lecturers, government officials, and industry partners, aiming for a long-term impact over 5 to 15 years.

Currently, SBM ITB is preparing several new multidisciplinary programs, including Real Estate Business Leadership (in collaboration with SAPPK ITB), Biotech Business Leadership (with SITH ITB), and Digital Economic & Financial Sharia (with STEI ITB). SBM also plans to design a curriculum with global professional certification pathways in the future, such as Certified Human Resource Management (CHRM) and Certified Financial Analyst (CFA), as well as collaborations with other global professional certification bodies, including the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Beyond academic programs, SBM is strengthening its Executive Education and Business Partnership units to expand its collaboration with industry. Currently, SBM has established seven strategic collaborations with major companies. SBM has also been directly entrusted by the President of the Republic of Indonesia to educate 41 professionals through integrated or multidisciplinary programs involving top world universities such as MIT and Cambridge.

To maintain and enhance its achievements going forward, SBM ITB is committed to continuously creating innovation by prioritizing a multidisciplinary approach in collaboration with other faculties. “SBM ITB will continue to be a Campus for Impact, emphasizing that students not only learn theory but also develop real solutions for society,” Aurik concluded.
