Profile

Deddy Priatmodjo Koesrindartoto is a Professor of Financial Economics at the School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB), where his work sits at the intersection of complex adaptive systems, artificial intelligence, economics, and capital markets. With a career spanning over 33 years across academia and industry, Professor Koesrindartoto is recognized for his ability to translate rigorous economic theory into institutional strategy and national policy.

Currently, Professor Koesrindartoto leads both the Business Risks and Finance Interest Group and the Financial Innovation Laboratory at SBM ITB. His administrative leadership has been pivotal to the institute’s growth; he previously served as the Director of Graduate Programs in Management Science, overseeing both Master’s and Ph.D. curricula, and as the Director of Institutional Development and Planning. From 2020 to 2025, he provided executive oversight as the Head of the ITB Business Unit Management and Endowment Fund (BPUDL), managing the university’s long-term financial sustainability.

His research foundation is inherently interdisciplinary. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics (with a minor in Statistics) and an MSc in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University, following an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from ITB. Prior to his tenure at SBM ITB, he served as a Research Fellow at the Center for Computational Finance and Economic Agents (CCFEA) at the University of Essex, UK.

A hallmark of Professor Koesrindartoto’s career is his extensive engagement with global and national regulatory bodies. He has served as a consultant and advisor for:

  • Multilateral Organizations: The World Bank and the Islamic Development Bank.

  • National Authorities: The Indonesian Ministry of Finance, the Indonesia Financial Authority (OJK), BAPPENAS, and the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS).

  • Strategic Advisory: Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and the Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Economic Governance (AIPEG).

Before joining his academic career, he worked as a professional for energy services companies.

 In the classroom, Professor Koesrindartoto bridges technical precision with practical application, covering subjects from Microeconomics and Macroeconomics to Investment Management, the Digital Economy, and Fintech. He remains deeply committed to the academic community and is highly accessible to students and collaborators interested in the evolution of financial systems and digital banking twin systems.
