Profile

Dedy Sushandoyo is Head of the Management of Technology Laboratory (2026) and Coordinator of Entrepreneurial Business – Thought Leadership (2026) at SBM-ITB, Bandung, Indonesia. His research interests span strategic organisational innovation, technological innovation management, organisational learning, knowledge management, and strategic change management.

He earned his PhD in Project, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship from Linköping University, Sweden, with his doctoral research fully funded by the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation. His PhD examined the development and commercialisation of discontinuous technologies by large established companies, mainly Sweden’s Volvo Trucks and Scania. He holds double master’s degrees — an M.A. and M.A.Sc. in European Science, Technology and Society — from Linköping University, Sweden, and the University of Oslo, Norway, and holds an M.Sc. Eng. from Chalmers University of Technology, having also studied at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden. He completed his B.Sc. Eng. in Mechanical Engineering at Gadjah Mada University.

He has pursued further training, including Lund University’s workshop on Innovation Systems and Entrepreneurship, an Innovation Management certification from the Global Innovation Management Institute, and a Leading Change and Organizational Renewal programme at Harvard Business School.He has been a Visiting Researcher at the UK’s Freeman Centre (SPRU), one of the world’s leading institutions in science, technology and innovation studies, and a Visiting Lecturer at the Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship, Lund University. He participates in international conferences and forums, including ISPIM, IPDM, and R&D Management.

He is the author of three books: Transfer Teknologi dan Inovasi untuk Transformasi Bisnis (2022), Learning for Innovations in Digital Startups: Studi Kasus di Indonesia (2024), and Metode Penelitian Kualitatif: Pemahaman dan Pendekatan Praktis (2026). He has published in high-impact journals such as Technovation, Research Policy, Journal of Cleaner Production, International Journal of Innovation Management, and Knowledge Management Theory & Practice. He also serves as a reviewer for several journals, including R&D Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, and VINE Journal of Information and Knowledge Management Systems.

He has delivered consultancy and training work for government ministries (Higher Education, Science, and Technology; Communication and Digital; Transportation; Energy and Mineral Resources), state institutions (Bank of Indonesia, BRIN, DJP), state-owned enterprises (PT KAI, PLN, Pertamina), and private companies (PT Kalbe Farma, PT Samudera Indonesia).
