Prawira Fajarindra Belgiawan (Fajar) is an Associate Professor at the School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and previously served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Transport Planning and Systems (IVT) at ETH Zürich and at the Department of Urban Management, Kyoto University. He earned his Ph.D. (2015) and M.Eng. (2012) in Urban Management from Kyoto University, Japan, and his Bachelor’s degree in Regional and City Planning from ITB (2006). His research interests span travel behavior analysis, urban and transport planning, discrete choice modeling, electric vehicle adoption, urban air mobility, sustainable transport systems, and the intersection of marketing and transportation.
Fajar has published extensively in high-impact, Scopus-indexed journals covering topics such as emerging mobility services, policy evaluation, behavioral modeling, and marketing applications in transportation. He has also been awarded research grants from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). Several ITB-funded projects were conducted in collaboration with leading international institutions, including ETH Zürich (Switzerland) and Kyoto University (Japan). Throughout his career, he has also collaborated with researchers from universities such as ETH Zürich (Switzerland), BOKU Vienna (Austria), Kyoto University (Japan), Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia), Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (Indonesia), American University of Beirut (Lebanon), UC Berkeley (USA), Utrecht University (Netherlands), National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan), Edinburgh Napier University (UK), Tongji University (China), and Hiroshima University (Japan), working on studies in electric vehicle adoption, urban air mobility integration, advanced travel behavior analysis, and sustainable urban mobility strategies.
Beyond academia, Fajar is actively engaged in consultancy, training, and facilitation for various organizations, including PT PLN (Persero), Bank Indonesia, the Ministry of Transportation, Grab Indonesia, PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, and Gojek. He has been involved in projects with Bank Indonesia on electric vehicle ecosystem development and industrial sector investment strategies, with Grab Indonesia on assessing current and future adoption of electric vehicles in the ride-hailing sector, with PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental on business strategy and market partnership analysis, and with Gojek on evaluating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on ride-hailing services. He frequently serves as a facilitator for Professional Qualification and Competence-Based Learning programs for Board of Directors-level participants in state-owned enterprises, an assessor for senior management evaluations, a resource person in transport policy forums, and a trainer in academic writing workshops. These roles reflect his commitment to bridging academic expertise with practical applications in professional capacity building and strategic development across both public and private sectors.
