Unilever Future Leaders League 2013 lasted for five days (November 11-15, 2013) and held at Unilever Learning Center in Megamendung, Bogor. It was held by Unilever Indonesia as part of their commitment to develop Indonesia’s future leader as well as to strengthen partnership with leading universities in Indonesia. Unilever Indonesia’s Director of External Relations, Sancoyo Antarikso stated Indonesia is currently faced with human resource scarcity. Various agencies including business sector and educational institutions needs to cooperate to ensure Indonesia has enough human resources with global competitiveness so that our country are able to compete in the future.

The selected 30 students are from nine universities, namely Bakrie University, Bina Nusantara University, Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Prasetiya Mulya Business School, Diponegoro University, Gadjah Mada University, Hasanuddin University, University of Indonesia (UI), Petra Christian University, and School of Business Management ITB. These thirty participants also come from various interest fields such as Marketing, Customer Development or Sales, Human Resources, Finance and Supply Chain.

During the U-Camp, participants were given materials presented by more than 20 experts from Unilever. After that, they are given a business case to be completed either individually or in a team. The business case chosen for this year is Buavita, a local brand of Unilever Indonesia. Unilever Indonesia’s Director of Human Resources, Enny Sampurno, and Billy Boen from Young on Top organization inspire the participants with leadership training that gives them the knowledge on how to plan a career after graduating. “Students should begin to think and decide the vision of their career from now, do not wait until after graduation to ensure that they can achieve their dream career”, said Enny Sampurno.

Attended by university representatives and AIESEC as event partner, the final of Unilever Future Leaders League 2013 also announced Gardapati Garuda team (Wisnu Aryo Setio – SBM ITB, Fransiska Dewi – UI, Fulgentius Gary – UGM) as first place winner in team category. Overall, the Unilever Future Leaders’ League 2013 is not merely just a business competition, but also a life experience for the participants.
