The visit is aimed to follow up the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that is recently signed by the rectors of those two universities. The discussion between the professor and the SBM academic staffs is focussed on agendas, which are to explore the possibilities of double degree programmes and an international joint research programme and to share Professor Erik’s knowledge and experience as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Telecommunications Policy on how to manage an internationally reputable journal.Prof Sweden

Professor Erik Bohlin of Sweden’s Chalmers University of Technology today visits SBM ITB. The visit is aimed to follow up the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that is recently signed by the rectors of those two universities. The discussion between the professor and the SBM academic staffs is focussed on agendas, which are to explore the possibilities of double degree programmes and an international joint research programme and to share Professor Erik’s knowledge and experience as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Telecommunications Policy on how to manage an internationally reputable journal.With regard to the double degree programmes, it is expected that the two universities explore possibilities for facilitating exchange students both for master and PhD studies. The international joint research programme is expected to be initiated between SBM and Chalmers’ Technology Management and Economics Department. One of the potential research topics is on the Telecommunication industries in Indonesia and Europe. The research topic may cover on how the government regulations (policies) may affect the industries.

Several topics on how to improve the quality of the journals managed by SBM ITB are also discussed. Some suggestions from Professor Erik includes to attract internationally well recognised professors to serve as members of the editorial boards, invite prominent figures in the field of Technology Management to write on special issues, organise international conferences to raise the scientist communities’ awareness on the SBM journals and publish books based on the papers from the conferences.
