BANDUNG – Bachelor of Entrepreneurship Study Program and Metallurgical Engineering Study Program ITB students won the first prize in the Indonesia Youngpreneur Summit (IYS) 2015, held by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November on Saturday and Sunday (23-24 May 2015). This year, IYS theme is “The Innovative Revolution”. Fastus Team consists of Dedy Syahputra Sijabat (Entrepreneurship 2013), Chandra Deddy Nababan (Metallurgical Engineering 2013), Christina Evelyne Emeralda Purba (Entrepreneurship 2013) is also winning as Best Strategist for outsanding achievement and excellent performance in developing real strategy for real client at BrandPartner Strategy Challenge.
In this competition, Fastus Team proposed the idea “Peer Tutor : Improving Indonesian Student Achievement”. Tutor Sebaya is online and offline based business in education services which provide facilities to Indonesian students who excel in academics to be a tutor for their friends in similar age who have academic problems. This activity is expected to increase academic achievement for both sides.
Through the Peer Tutor, Fastus Team will create social conditions that can support each other to be be advanced, creative and educative. “If a child teach his/her friend about a lesson that he already had understood, then the child’s understanding of the subject matter had to be increased. In addition, it can also train students to have the skills in public speaking, it could happen when a child is good in a lesson but can not deliver it properly to others. Peer Tutor is become one of its facilities”, said Dedy Syahputra.
Through this system, it is expected that Indonesian students are complementary and equipped. “We will strive to realize the Peer Tutor in real business, not just the idea of the competition. Through teamwork, I’m sure Fastus Team will able to make it happen”, said Dedy Syahputra.
