Aalto University held JOKO Study Tour Singapore and Jakarta 22 – 29 August 2015. Although JOKO sounds familiar as the name of President Joko Widodo, but the Finnish has their own term. The name JOKO comes from Finnish words JOhdon KOulutus (leadership program / executive program). This year, JOKO chose Sustainability and Innovation to be further discussed in Singapore and Indonesia. They were 20 Finnish participants participated in this study tour started in Singapore with the Assistant Professor for INSEAD, Prof Matthew Lee. Before leaving Singapore, participants visited the NEWater Visitor Centre to see how innovation used to ensure water sustainability.
The journey then began in Jakarta with Prof. Kuntoro Mangkusubroto on Indonesia’s Economic Outlook highlighting the Indonesia’s cultural diversity and issues lay behind. The sessions were continued by prominent speakers with appealing topics from infrastructure to creative industries.
Speakers with different professional background were presented to invite the participants to an open discussion to get a deep dive into insights on business environment in a fast developing Indonesian economy and to learn about successful sustainability projects implemented in Indonesia and to get into deep about potential and promising business in Indonesia.
