AILP 2015_126SBM ITB Jakarta Campus, collaborating with Human Capital Leadership Institute in Singapore, held ASEAN Immersion Leaders Programme 2015 on 25-27 in Singapore and 28-30 October 2015 in Jakarta. This program aimed to bring top business leaders in Asia Pacific to share their insights on ASEAN’s macro-economic and geopolitical developments, and their implications for business. This leadership program also invited many prominent speakers from government and corporation sectors.

On the first day of the Indonesian leg of the program, highlight was given to Prof. KuntoroMangkusubroto’s presentation about Indonesian possibilities. Prof. Kuntoro underlined the potentials of Indonesia, and he believed that despite of facing many challenges, Indonesia has the ingredients of becoming a great country. The next session of the day was discussing the evolving of Indonesian consumer, presented by Budi Gunadi Sadikin (CEO of Mandiri) and Hasnul Suhaimi (Former CEO of Indosat and XL Axiata).To conclude the first day, participants also had the chance to visit ASTRA as one of the leading corporations in Indonesia, and they learned how ASTRA can sustain in their almost-six-decade of operation in Indonesia.

Many high profile speakers were coming on the second day of the Indonesian leg. Prof. Syarief Widjaja, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries,stressed out the large potentials of maritime and fishery industries in Indonesia. Later on, Koert Vonkeman (CEO of Shell Indonesia), Albert Simanjuntak (CEO of Chevron Indonesia), and Amien Sunaryadi (Head of SKK Migas) shared their perspective in developing sustainable public-private partnership in energy projects. After that on the next session, as infrastructure has been the main challenge of Indonesia’s economic development, Dono Boestami (CEO of MRT Jakarta), Bambang Eka Cahyana (CEO of Pelindo 1), and Nur Pamuji (Head of 35GW electricity project)shed the light about building infrastructure and sustainable growth.

Family business has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of business in Indonesia. This is why having Shinta Kamdani (CEO of Sintesa Group), Wishnu Wardhana (CEO of Indika Energy) and Adrianto Djokosoetono (Director of Blue Bird) on the stage was important to share their inspiration in developing successful family business. As the final session on the second day, Ahmad Yuniarto (Former Chairman of Schlumberger Indonesia) and Indra Prastomiyono (Group Director at MNC) passionately pointed out the need of developing human capital to develop more leaders from Indonesia in global environment.

The last day of the event was started by having Dwi Soetjipto (CEO of Pertamina), Rizkan Chandra (Director of Semen Indonesia), and Arif Bintoro (Director of Sritex) shared their experience in putting local companies in global stage. The final session of the event explored the new economy as Jason Lamuda (CEO of Berrybenka) and David Batubara (CEO of RPX Logistics)explained the challenges and opportunities of running business in the internet era. All participants in this program concluded that in order to utilize the potentials, Indonesia need to put extra effort to tackle some challenges such as the lack of infrastructure, corruption, and some issues on human capital.
