“Presenting information clearly and effectively is a key skill to get your message or opinion across, and, nowadays, presentation skills are required in almost every field,” said Imat Badruddin, Creative Presentation Director in Coreslide, New York, United States of America.

Imat Badruddin was invited as a Guest Lecture on the Business Communication course on Monday (26/10/2020). He talked about how to deliver a great presentation for Business and Profession. Imat Badruddin comes from New York and will stay in Indonesia for several months. Before he shared the materials, there was an opening speech from Dr. N. Nurlaela Arief, MBA, MIPR, as the coordinator of Business Communication courses.

The alumnus of Marketing at Northeastern University started the class by introducing that there are 5 types Presentations: Informative, Instructional, Inspiring, Persuasive, and Decision-Making. After that, he explained the development of presentation before the computer era up to the presentation in the future, Technology will be utilize, such as by using Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, 3D Models, Seamless Presentation, and Audience Interaction.

He not only talked about the presentation but also about the applications of Powerpoint that can be applied to many things. In general, most people only know that Powerpoint is applied to making a presentation. In contrast, Powerpoint can also be applied to creating Infographics, Project Management, and Reporting.

“Powerpoint is a visual medium, if you want to convey information visually, it’s the most accessible and ubiquitous tool there is”, said Imat Badruddin about Powerpoint.

In the last session, he took a note of the art of great presentation. “Great presentations use fewer slides and fewer words, no bullet points, enhancing vocal delivery, creating impressive moments, and rehearsing. Good presentations are memorable, they contain graphics, images, and facts in such a way that makes them easy to remember. A week later, your audience can still remember much of what you presented. Great presentations are motivating”, as Imat Badruddin made it clear.
