Building a career journey certainly has many challenges that will be faced. However, these challenges can be faced easily if we have and apply an entrepreneur mindset in every activity that we do. What is an entrepreneur mindset and what are the characteristics of an entrepreneur mindset in the middle of a person's career? Therefore, SBM ITB TALKS episode 56 will discuss the entrepreneur mindset in depth with Aisyah Maryam as Global Project Leader at Shell and alumni of SBM ITB in 2007.
“Entrepreneur is not a job, but a mindset that exists in everyone who is always trying to make a new idea and commercialize it into a business that generates profits and benefits the surrounding environment. So, everyone can certainly have this mindset, either making their own business or working in someone else’s company” said Aisyah.
Aisyah also added that having an entrepreneurial mindset is important and must be owned by someone who wants to build their career journey, either creating their own business or working in another company that always creates something new. So, the entrepreneur mindset should always exist in every process carried out, so that the process will always be maximal and produce satisfactory results.
There are several characteristics of someone who has an entrepreneur mindset:
Be Brave! to try something new. Entrepreneur mindset is synonymous with the willingness to learn new things, have high curiosity, and try new challenges that will improve our skills.
Be Focus! Focus is important in developing a career, with our focus more aware of what our abilities and passions are. So, we are easier to find and do work that is in accordance with our abilities.
Expand the connection network. Someone who has an entrepreneur mindset will always look for new people who will be an inspiration and role model at work. In addition, the more connections we have, the easier it is for us to build our careers by learning from the connections we have.
Trying to build a good relationship with others. This is one of the most important things in improving the entrepreneur mindset. Many people are focused only on themselves until they forget that in their business journey, they need someone else. So, we must maintain relationships with our colleagues, in order to work well together and the results obtained are certainly maximal.
Have trust. This is one of the main characteristics of the entrepreneur mindset. At work, of course, we will connect with others. Sometimes, we’ll have the view that others aren’t as good as ourselves. This will certainly hinder every process that is done. Therefore, we must believe that others also have the same abilities as us, so that all can be well organized.
