School of Business and Management invited Rahmanto Tyas Raharja, a Stockbit Investment Analyst, to the Capital Market class to present stock technical analysis ,Wednesday (23/2/2022). In his presentation entitled “Technical Analysis: Practical Guide”, Rahmanto, a graduate of SBM ITB in 2019 and certified by CSA, QWP, WMI, and WPPE, first explained about Stockbit.

Stockbit is a startup company with a mission to increase financial literacy throughout society through an optimal investment environment. In his presentation, Rahmanto explained the basics of technical analysis, time of analysis, price patterns and indicators, buy and sell strategies, and how Stockbbit helps the investment process–as an easy and fast tool to invest.

Stock analysis techniques are divided into two. First, fundamental analysis for a long period, and technical analysis for a shorter period. In this case, five other factors also influence and play a role in the process: underlying, business analysis, period, users, and sources of income. Nevertheless, Rahmanto emphasized that no analytical method is 100% correct. “Therefore, it is very important to realize that no matter how good an analysis is, it still contains risks,” said Rahmanto.

As the main point of his presentation was about technical analysis, Rahmanto first explained when to use technical analysis: determining the right time to buy shares, setting the target price to sell, realizing the profit earned, determining the stop loss point. Rahmanto also explained the basic principles of technical analysis: prices have reflected all information in the market, trends followed, and repeating patterns.

Rahmanto also provided information about Stock Trends with examples, the limits/areas of a price with its expectations and how to find out on a stock chart, important terms in the use of support and resistance, which even gives the analogy of a high-rise building in his presentation. Rahmanto then ended his presentation by explaining price patterns and mistakes traders often make to provide the most important knowledge to SBM ITB students.
