Gabriela Rehuli Servitya Ginting, a student of the Entrepreneurship Study Program at SBM ITB class of 2024, has achieved remarkable success at the 2024 Unilever Future Leaders League (UFLL) event. Gabriela emerged as one of three winners and will represent Indonesia in the global round in London, scheduled for next July.

UFLL is a global business competition by Unilever that annually attracts the best young talent from over 50 countries. Participants complete case studies related to Unilever’s business, such as marketing strategy, product development, and sustainability. UFLL winners have the opportunity to work at Unilever and participate in a leadership development program.

Gabriela initially joined UFLL at a friend’s invitation. Despite harbouring doubts due to her past participation in team competitions, Gabriela found motivation after watching videos of previous UFLL winners. While UFLL is an individual competition, teams are formed during the event.

“I want to experience what it’s like to work at Unilever and learn from the industry’s best leaders,” said Gabriela on Friday (8/3).

However, the journey was not without challenges. Amid preparations, Gabriela underwent major surgery, causing her to miss significant time.

“While in the hospital, I had to work on the UFLL case,” said Gabriela.

Thanks to her strong determination and support from friends and mentors, Gabriela completed the UFLL case on time. She employed a mature strategy in solving the case, meticulously studying it, seeking data and references, and consulting with mentors and friends.

“I also created a work timeline to ensure I could complete the case on time,” she added.

In the final round, Gabriela teamed up with two individuals she did not previously know. They fostered solid teamwork and devised innovative solutions that captured the jury’s attention.

From UFLL, Gabriela gleaned numerous valuable lessons, including the importance of perseverance, hard work, teamwork, and leadership. She also had the opportunity to network with the best young talent across Indonesia and learn from their experiences.

“This experience is immensely valuable and will serve as a foundation for my future endeavors,” said Gabriela.

For those aspiring to participate in UFLL in the future, Gabriela offers several tips:

  • Maintain strong intentions and enthusiasm.
  • Address existing challenges by leveraging data and benchmarking from credible sources.
  • Actively seek feedback and remain open to improvements.
  • Prioritize rest.
  • Develop a work timeline and prepare well in advance.
  • Tailor solutions to align with the relevant brand’s values.
  • Focus not only on winning but also on utilizing the time and opportunities to expand networks.

Gabriela will now concentrate on preparing for the UFLL global round in London in July 2024. She aims to represent Indonesia to the best of her ability and bring home the championship title.

Gabriela thanks Unilever, her mentors, friends, and family for their unwavering support. She hopes her journey will inspire younger generations to dare to dream and pursue their aspirations.
