Embracing elements of culture, sustainability, and cross-community collaboration, SBM ITB held the Bandung Heritage Green Fair (BHGF) 2025 at the ITB Ganesha Campus in Bandung on Sunday (12/14). BHGF 2025 consisted of three main events.
Fun Run and Heritage Walk took participants through eight heritage sites in Bandung. Meanwhile, the Heritage Fair featured a range of activities, including creative arts performances, culinary delights, workshops, interactive games, and booths showcasing MSMEs and local products. This aligns with the BHGF 2025 tagline, “Step into History, Walk for a Sustainable Future.”
BHGF 2025 is part of SBM ITB’s 22nd anniversary celebrations. The opening and flag-off of BHGF 2025 were attended by ITB Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan, and Dean of SBM ITB Prof. Dr. Aurik Gustomo, S.T., M.T.
“Get ready! We are about to enjoy running in the most exciting city for runners,” said Farhan before the flag-off.
Invited guests received Sundanese headbands from the Eling Earth community as a symbol of appreciation for local culture. Before the official flag-off, all participants participated in a warm-up session led by coaches from the KECE RUN running community. This session aimed to prepare participants for the Fun Run and Heritage Walk series, the main components of BHGF 2025.
Concurrently with the Fun Run and Heritage Walk, various activities also took place at the Heritage Fair. Several workshops were held in parallel, including a flower arrangement workshop with florist Better Bloom and a workshop on making the traditional karinding musical instrument with Abah Tedy. Additionally, visitors could watch and participate in ecoprinting and karinding demonstrations on the main stage.
After completing the route and returning to the SBM ITB Building, participants received finisher medals before being directed to the seedling planting area. The seeds had been distributed earlier along with participants’ BIBs as part of the BHGF 2025 sustainability commitment. This planting activity symbolized participants’ direct contribution to environmental preservation.
The BHGF 2025 series continued even after participants crossed the finish line. After the race, they had the opportunity to join a Zumba session led by ZIN Wangi Julianda. Additionally, there were various activities at the Heritage Fair booth, which showcased running equipment, food and beverages, and locally produced MSME products that highlighted the region’s culture.
In line with the spirit of cultural preservation promoted by this event, the series of activities concluded with a performance of Sundanese arts and culture by Eling Kidz from the Eling Earth community. The performance featured a mini-drama showcasing the Sundanese language, elements of wayang (traditional puppetry), cabaret, and the traditional game of kaulinan budak lembur (a local children’s game). Participants were directly involved in this engaging performance, which served as a reminder of the local cultural values passed down through generations.
BHGF 2025 reflects SBM ITB’s commitment to promoting relevant and sustainable social impact. The series of events was then officially closed by the host, marking the end of an event that brought together sports, culture, and environmental awareness in one collaborative space.
