Heroes’ Day commemorates the Battle of Surabaya on November 10, 1945. The people and fighters of Surabaya fought against the British army. The total strength of the Allied forces in this battle was about 15,000 soldiers. We lost about 6,000 Indonesians in the Battle of Surabaya, which lasted three weeks.

The Battle of Surabaya on November 10, 1945, was later designated Heroes’ Day on December 16, 1959, as decided by President Soekarno.

Commemorating Hero’s Day, SBM ITB entrepreneurship students unitedly wore hero-themed costumes on Thursday (10/11/2022). This costume event has indeed been carried out by the Entrepreneurship Department Student Association of IMK “Artha” SBM ITB every month to commemorate important days or events in that month.

This costume event is often referred to as NggoReng, which is included in the program of the people and culture development division of IMK “Artha” SBM ITB to further strengthen the togetherness between the entrepreneurial students of SBM ITB.

“We always hold costume events, which we call NggoReng (Ngostum Together). For November, the theme is heroes,” said Amanda, the person in charge of this event. The announcement of a new hero-themed NggoReng was held two days before the event, but the wirussians (what they call the entrepreneurship students) were solid; almost all of the wirussians wore hero-themed costumes.

The NggoReng event was lively, with various costumes being worn. There were Mr. Ir. Soekarno, Mrs. Fatmawati, Security Guard, Ustadz, and Satpol PP, and some were wearing their father’s sports clothes because his father was a hero for him. This NggoReng event was carried out by all SBM ITB entrepreneurship students, classes of 2023 and 2024.

“The program is really fun, although it’s a bit tiring for the content,” said Desya, one of the students.

Amanda also hopes that the hero-themed NggoReng can make them aware of the services of the heroes. We must always remember the services of the heroes for our lives.
