October 17, 2025

As a business school that has earned international accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the SBM ITB, was honored to participate in THE World Academic Summit 2025, organized by Times Higher Education (THE) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia (October 7-9).

SBM ITB was one of only ten business schools worldwide invited to open a booth at this prestigious international event. The event was attended by Dr. Yuanita Handayati, Head of the MBA Study Program at the Bandung Campus, and Dr. rer. pol. Eko Agus Prasetio, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at SBM ITB, as the official representative of SBM ITB.

According to Dr. Yuanita Handayati, SBM ITB’s participation stems from a strong collaboration with AACSB. Following an in-house seminar with AACSB earlier this year, SBM ITB received a recommendation to participate in this global forum.

“This opportunity provides a platform for us to introduce SBM ITB and ITB as the best technology university in Indonesia. We want to demonstrate our excellence as a technology-based business school that prioritizes experiential learning,” said Dr. Yuanita.

In their booth, the SBM ITB team showcased various learning innovations, including interactive business simulations and internally developed educational games, as well as laboratories and research centers that support real-world, experiential learning. SBM ITB also highlighted the strength of its global partner network, with a now balanced ratio of inbound and outbound students reflecting a growing spirit of internationalization on campus.

In addition to showcasing academic excellence and learning innovations, SBM ITB is also actively building new networks with universities from various countries. Several renowned universities, such as Penn State University and Durham University, have expressed interest in exploring further academic collaborations with SBM ITB.

On the same occasion, Dr. rer. pol. Dr. Eko Agus Prasetio, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at SBM ITB, emphasized that SBM ITB’s participation in global academic forums such as the 2025 World Academic Summit is part of the institution’s commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of education through AACSB accreditation.

“AACSB accreditation encourages us to continuously improve in various aspects, from enhancing lecturer qualifications and curriculum updates to strengthening research collaborations and engagement with industry,” explained Dr. Eko.

He added that AACSB is not just an accreditation standard, but also a driving force for SBM ITB to continue innovating and adapting to global dynamics.

Furthermore, Dr. Eko explained that going forward, SBM ITB will focus on two main strategic areas: thought leadership and societal impact.

“As a business school, we want to ensure that every educational, research, and community service activity generates a tangible impact on society and industry. We are committed to producing thought leaders capable of providing solutions and inspiration for future business challenges,” he said.

He also highlighted the importance of expanding international research collaborations to enhance SBM ITB’s relevance and academic reputation.

“We will continue to encourage cross-border research collaboration and ensure that every scientific publication has a real impact on the global community,” he added.

By participating in THE World Academic Summit 2025, SBM ITB reaffirms its commitment to becoming a world-class business school that not only excels in education and research but also actively contributes to building global networks and making meaningful contributions to society.
