Students from the School of Business and Management, Institute Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB), put their International Trade learning into practice through the Integrated Business Asia 2 (IBA 2) course at the Chef Expo at NICE PIK 2, Tangerang, on May 6–9, 2026.
At the expo, students showcased and promoted Indonesian MSME products to an international audience. The exhibition was part of the Indonesian Chef Expo, a four-day event organized by the Indonesian Chef Association that brought together hundreds of participants from China, South Korea, Sweden, and other countries.
This activity was designed to provide students with firsthand experience interacting with various international businesses beyond classroom learning. According to Annisa Rahmani Qastharin, S.T, M.Sc., lecturer and Expo Coordinator, the course is designed to introduce international business in a practical and easy-to-understand manner.
“This course is designed to provide a straightforward understanding of International Business. Students don’t necessarily have to manufacture their own products; they can also serve as intermediaries. The underlying principles remain consistent, and we encourage students to learn through experience, decision-making, and even by facing failures while exploring export opportunities,” said Annisa.
Said, a student in the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) at SBM ITB said the exhibition offered a different perspective than commercial expos, where businesses generally focus more on sales.
“This expo is very beneficial. Previously, our focus was solely on being customers. Now, we experience both perspectives, being both a company and an exhibitor, so we learn from both sides,” he said.
Through real-life interactions and practical experiences, the IBA 2 Trade Show reflects SBM ITB’s efforts to equip students with international business knowledge and the interpersonal skills needed to navigate a professional environment.
“We hope this expo helps students understand themselves better, learn how they typically position themselves, and grow through uncomfortable experiences. This is where students can learn to collaborate and interact with others,” said Annisa.
