Since 2020, the number of stock investors in Indonesia has increased by more than 50 percent. Unfortunately, this increase is not in line with the Indonesian people’s knowledge about investment. The Lecturer and Executive Director of Education at SBM ITB, Donald Lantu, mentioned it at a webinar entitled “The First Indonesia Investor Summit 2021: The Rise of Indonesia Stock Market” on Saturday (26/6/2021) and Sunday (27/6/2021).

This event was held by SBM ITB and Investor Academy Indonesia (IAI). The Indonesia Investor Summit 2021 aims to educate the public about stock investment and the capital market in Indonesia.

The Branch Manager of Panin Sekuritas Bandung Dago, Vimalasari, added that based on the observations of the Founder and Co-Founder of IAI, most new investors, dominated by millennial investors or corona investors, do not understand the basics of the capital market and have to suffer losses. “Profit or loss is not in the hands of securities, but depending on the investors. It is the investors who are responsible for buying, holding, or selling their shares,” said Vimalasari.

Her sense of responsibility as a Panin Sekuritas Branch Manager towards customers prompted Vimalasari to join and establish IAI and this Indonesia Investor Summit. The goal of establishing IAI is to become an extension of the Indonesia Stock Exchange and Issuers to educate capital market players in Indonesia to make investment decisions independently and wisely.

“We want to educate investors in Indonesia to make wise investment decisions based on knowledge,” said Andre Lukito, the Founder of IAI. Andre hopes that the learning of Indonesian investors will not stop at this Indonesia Investor Summit webinar. Still, they can also explore investment knowledge through the YouTube, Telegram, and Instagram modules that IAI has provided for free.
