SBM ITB is honored to have the opportunity to develop the potential of the nation’s best students to succeed in various competitions. On Monday (20/6/2022), the SBM ITB Marketing and Communications Team had the opportunity to interview representatives from the Best Team for IDEAS Business Plan Competition by UGM 2022, Olivia Monica (Entrepreneurship, 2023), and Fadhillah Eka Sucy (Entrepreneurship, 2023).

Fadhillah and Olivia expressed their delight at winning the competition when interviewed by the SBM ITB Marketing and Communications Team. They were able to compete and win the Best Team for IDEAS Business Plan Competition UGM 2022, thanks to the guidance and support of SBM and ITB.

They are pleased not only because they won the previous competition but also because the ongoing project can continue progressing. It began as an idea and was gradually realized through competitions on various campuses, including the Wilthreefest Competition Undip 2022 with first place, the IO/FTI Business Plan Competition Untar 2022 with third place, the IDEAS Business Plan Competition by UGM 2022 with the Best Team, and the Student Entrepreneurship Program (PMW) X Technopreneurship Orientation Program (TOP) Batch 1 2022. Finally, it is realized through an IDR 28.150.000 collaboration project with SMAN 2 Cibinong.

First Concept

This journey began with a group initiated by one of the members, a student at SBM ITB. This group was formed to create a platform in the education industry. The other team members were invited to contribute to the formation and realization of ideas. Currently, the team has seven members, four of whom are from SBM ITB and the others from other faculties.

After the concept was realized, “Team Leo” entered various competitions.

At first, their supervisors advised them to try participating in some of the existing competitions. The supervisors have suggested that they test the ideas they have carefully prepared.

“Without competition, our concept is just like another idea. However, due to the competition, our ideas have matured through in-depth discussions, material preparation, presentations, or pitching to a large group of people. We are pleased with the team’s dynamics. Everyone is cooperative, willing to work together and complement one another,” Fadhillah said.

“Team Leo” felt that participating in this competition benefited each individual, the team, and the ongoing project over time. Each member and team is constantly encouraged to compete to be the best.

Furthermore, all SBM ITB friends should know that “Team Leo” is not limited to competitions. They prepare to face the realities of life after completing their studies. We can see this from the positive impact of their projects, specifically the collaboration with SMAN 2 Cibinong, valued at IDR 28.150.000. This team will focus more on testing market interest in the future. They intend to expand beyond the island of Java.

“Team Leo” is optimistic and continues to dream that they will be able to diversify their products in the future as a result of their hard work. Later, the products offered will not only focus on preparing students to compete in the Olympiad (OSN) but go beyond that. Soon, Team Leo will concentrate on developing a positive perception of the newly created brand.

“We hope that our brand is recognized in the education industry, such as Ruang Guru, an online learning platform, Ganesha Operation, and Inten, a UTBK guidance study. Our goal is to assist each student we mentor to reach their full potential. We will be thankful if students can optimize their potential so more students can compete in the National Science Olympiad (OSN),” Olivia said.

Team Leo and SBM

Fadhillah and Olivia also mentioned that SBM ITB was extremely helpful in various ways., starting with the curriculum, lecturers, and so on. SBM ITB’s curriculum opens students’ eyes to have a better understanding and mindset in business. Many qualified lecturers encourage students to push themselves to succeed.

This group of students is motivated to do more than just study because of their favorite lecturer, Leo Aldianto, who provides a strict and disciplined education while always being data-oriented and setting targets above the average.

Help was also provided by mentors Sarah Ismullah and Hendarsyah Aditya, who motivated this team to succeed in various competitions. They better understand the project’s direction thanks to the support of SBM ITB’s learning ecosystem. As a result of all of these inspirations and experiences, Fadhillah, Olivia, and the team named the team “Team Leo” to remind everyone to continue striving to exceed the existing standards.

Greetings to friends

After the end of the interview, Fadhillah and Olivia invited SBM ITB friends to compete in various competitions to make SBM and ITB go global. They continue to encourage people to take advantage of the available opportunities. Don’t create a barrier within yourself by being afraid to try and put yourself down because people who fail are those who stop trying.

“In addition to completing the project, we are interested in participating in future competitions. We believe competitions are an excellent way to test ideas and explore new opportunities. It would be a shame if we simply missed it. It doesn’t matter if we win or lose; all we want to do is keep trying,” Fadhillah said.

Olivia concluded by advising SBM students interested in competing in various events. Olivia stated that her activities were not in conflict with the lecture. They believe that lectures and competitions can go hand in hand. The most important aspect of team performance is effective time management so you can communicate and work on this project in stages. Discussion and coordination can be done in the evening after lectures and when the team members have conducted their assignments and other responsibilities.
